Clifford Eugene Cagle
Clifford Eugene “Gene” Cagle, 77, Altus, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bob Mills and Arthur Jantz officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Clifford Eugene Cagle was born July 9, 1928, in Pickens County, GA to Clifton Ver and Sarah E. Malendia Reece Cagle. He graduated high school in Newcastle, TX in 1945. Gene married Juanita Musgrave on November 13, 1946, in Newcastle, TX. Gene worked as a carpenter for more than forty years. In 1991, he opened Cagle Lock and Key where he worked until his retirement in June of 2004. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Olney, TX and was of the Baptist faith. He loved camping and fishing.
His parents, his daughter, Ann Cagle Stucker, his brother Weldon Max Cagle and his son-in-law William T. Williams, III, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; his daughter, Gena Williams of Altus, OK; his son, James Cagle and wife Charlotte of Rowlett, TX; his mother-in-law, Gladys Musgrave of Graham, TX; his brother, Melvin Cagle and wife Carolyn of Anson, TX; and his sister, Nell Tate of Tishomingo, OK; seven grandchildren: Lorien Casey and husband Lance of Oklahoma City, OK; Melinda Isbell and husband Brent of Houston, TX; David Stucker and wife Chizuru of Japan; Luthien Kennedy and husband Bill of Altus, OK; Melian Malseed and husband Clayton of Eureka Springs, AR; William T. “Bud” Williams, IV, of Altus, OK; and Kathleen Cagle of Rowlett, TX; seven great grandchildren: Turner, Lilia and Martha Kennedy; Hannah Casey; December Sullivan; Jordan Isbell; Kayla Ruzicka and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Howard Cecil Caldwell
Howard Cecil Caldwell, 85, of Altus, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at his residence in Altus, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Altus City Cemetery with Brother A.J. Jones officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
He was born on November 4, 1921 in Afton, Iowa to John W. and Agnes (Witham) Caldwell. He graduated from Afton High School in 1939. He married Celia Harris on May 4, 1947 in Afton, Iowa. He was a custom combiner from 1946 to 2001, his job took him from Oklahoma to North Dakota. He was a Jehovah’s Witness. He enjoyed traveling and always had time to visit with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes (Witham) Caldwell, and a brother, Kenneth Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, Celia Caldwell, of the home, one daughter; Sheila (Caldwell) Smith and her husband Ricky, four sons; Phil Caldwell, and his wife Pat, Martin Caldwell, and his wife Cynthia, Johnny Caldwell, and Tim Caldwell, all of Altus, seven grandchildren, Becky Waldroop of Altus, OK, Jessica Clark and her husband, Corey of Lawton, OK, Lisa Shelton and her husband Jon of Mustang, Ok, Josh Caldwell of Altus, OK, Stacy Caldwell of Dallas, TX and Konor and Gannon Smith of Altus. Lawrence Melvin Calkins, age 85, of Altus, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center in Lawton, OK. Services for Mr. Calkins will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2005 at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus, Oklahoma, with Mr. Bill Osborne and Mr. Tom Bailey officiating. Lawrence Calkins was born October 31, 1919 to John Roy and Eva Faye (McDowell) Calkins in Edmond, Oklahoma. He attended the Edmond schools. Mr. Calkins enlisted in the army and served from 1939-1945 and again from 1950-1952, retiring as a 1st Lt.. He married Helen Lackey on November 7, 1946 in Headrick, Oklahoma. He worked in civil service at Altus Air Force Base for approximately 30 years before his retirement. Mr. Calkins served as an elder of the Headrick Church of Christ. He and his wife later became members of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus. He was a member of the V.F.W. , D.A.V. and the American Legion. Mr. Calkins enjoyed watching football and spending time with his family, church family, and friends.
Mr. Calkins was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Calkins; two brothers, Tom and Charles Calkins; and one sister, Velma Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and daughter, Janis Anderson, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Terrie Calkins of Tipton, Oklahoma. Lewis Carnes
Lewis Carnes, 58, Altus, passed away Saturday, September 8 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 13, at the St. John’s Baptist Church in Altus with the Reverends Robert Bostic and Thomas Hanes officiating. There will be a second services conducted 11:00 am, Saturday, September 15, at the St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Parrish, Florida. Interment will follow at the Parrish Cemetery with military honors. Lewis William Carnes was born on July 14, 1949, to the late Roosevelt Clark Carnes, Sr., and Minnie Lee Dozier Carnes in Palmetto, Florida. He was the oldest of twelve children. His beloved brothers Alvin M. Carnes and Roosevelt Clark Carnes, Jr. preceded him in death. He graduated from Lincoln High in 1969, in Palmetto, Florida. On October 4, 1972 Lewis married Velma Blackshire. They have been married for 34 years. He was a retiree of the United States Air Force where he honorably served for 24 years as a Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon retirement he joined the Wal-Mart staff where he proudly worked for the last 11 years. Lewis loved to cook and entertain family and friends.
Lewis fought a good fight but on September 8, 2007, The Good Lord said all right Lew, I need another soldier and Lew said I’m ready. He leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife Velma Carnes. Hie four children, Mike and his wife Alicia of Shreveport, Louisiana, Russell of Georgia, Lewis and Michelle of Altus, Oklahoma. Five sisters, Amanda Ford of Hobe Sound, Florida, Linda Carnes of Ellenton, Florida, Yvonne Presha, Rosayln Thomas and her husband Carlton, and Evelyn Randall and her husband Steven all of Palmetto, Florida. Four brothers, Alphonso Carnes-Gilliard of Mulberry, Florida, Eddie Carnes and his wife Estelle, Ray Carnes, and Lorenzo Carnes all of Palmetto, Florida. Eulan C. (Dick) Carter
Eulan C. (Dick) Carter, 90, long time Altus resident, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Suzanne Mollison officiating.
Mr. Carter was born on June 19, 1917 in Carmel, Oklahoma to James Richard and Chalcie Doan (Wilkiey) Carter. He was the ninth of ten children and attended school in Victory and Olustee. He married Ida Mae Bussey in 1939 in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked for the Ford Dealership in Altus for 45 years retiring in 1982. He was of the Methodist Faith. He coached his sons in Little League sports and didn’t miss a home game of the Altus Bulldogs for many years. He was voted “Coach of the Week” for the Altus Bulldogs in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, all Altus High School sporting events, WOSC, OU, OSU, and Dallas Cowboys sporting events. He especially enjoyed visiting with people at the donut shop but above all loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He just loved children!
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; five brothers; son-in-law Jim Holland and grandson Micah Johnson.

Mrs. Carter was born January 30, 1932 in Dalhart, Texas to Carney and Gladys (Ince) Sherwood. She attended Altus High School. She also attended college receiving credit hours in business and accounting. Mrs. Carter worked in the Civil Service Finance Department at Altus Air Force Base and retired after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved sewing, cooking, yardwork, and square dancing. The last 15 years she traveled the world wide.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Evelyn. She is survived by one daughter, Paula Kay Carter of Lancaster, CA; two sons, William Rick Carter and wife Donna of Duke, OK, and Henry Steve Carter and wife Connie of San Antonio, TX; five sisters, Goldie Poling of Childress, TX, Flaval Southall of Dallas, TX, Martha Skillman of Yorktown, VA, Clema Utter of Springdale, AR, and Connie Moss and husband Darrell of Altus, OK; two grandchildren, Jason Scott Carter of Seattle, WA, and Corrie Marie Carter of San Antonio, TX ; one great-grandson, Austin Crook of San Antonio, TX.
Jerry Carter
Jerry Carter passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born August 23, 1937 to J.O. and Mae Carter, Jr. in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He was the only grandson of J.O. and Bessie Carter and Lebanese immigrants Mike and Mary Suffudy. (They all preceded him in death.)
Jerry graduated from Sulphur High School in 1955 and earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He worked for OG&E for 35 years. Then he went on to become the City Electric Superintendent for the City of Altus for 11 years before retiring due to illness. Jerry was a member of the Martha Road Baptist Church of Altus.
Jerry was married to Aline Briggs on December 8, 1962 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. They were residents of Bethany, Oklahoma for 34 years and have lived in Altus for 11 where they made many good friends. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Clytie Briggs and sister-in–law Ermel Briggs. Jerry is survived by his wife Aline of Altus, Oklahoma; daughter Sarah D’Amore, her husband, Michael and grand-daughter Maria Elizabeth D’Amore of Long Island, New York; cousin Mary Suffudy Jackson of Boonville, Arkansas; sister-in-law Doris Hough and husband Dr. Wylie Hough of Miami, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Frances Gillen and husband George Gillen of Waco, Texas; brother-in-law Paul Briggs and wife Mary Briggs of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law Hugh Briggs of Oklahoma City; and four nieces, three nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a large extended family in New York.
Memorial services will be held at Martha Road Baptist Church in Altus on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 10:00 am. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm at Bethany Cemetery, in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Madonna Carter
Madonna Carter, 52, Duke, passed away, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, March 13th at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Blair. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Madonna Sue Fike was born to Henry and Rosalie (Worley) Fikes August 22, 1955 in Dumas, Texas. She attended school in the Erick and Union City area, after which she worked in the restaurant business in the Oklahoma City area. Later she and her mother, Rosalie Rowden, worked as professional seamstress’ in the curtain manufacturing industry.
In 1989 she moved to Duke, Ok, in 1991 she was the head cook at the Altus Head Start Program. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Duke and married William R. Carter there on July 11, 1992. Madonna loved cooking, watching the food network, crocheting, peaceful sunny days at the lake camping, loving and caring for her nieces and nephews all their lives, and donating time and money to the Head Start Kids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gene Fikes and sister, Fern Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband, Ricky of the home; one brother, Cleve Fikes and his wife Charlotte of Hampton, VA; four nieces, April Williams and husband Marvin of Newcastle, OK, Rhonda Sherrer and husband Steve of Lawton, OK, Beverly Cramton and husband Chad of Duncan, OK, Michelle Ingram and husband Garry of El Reno, OK; three nephews, Kevin Fikes of El Reno, OK, Michael Fikes and wife Kriste of El Reno, OK, and Jeff Reynolds and wife Mayela of Altus, OK.

Gladys Mayo England was born April 25, 1911 in Blossom, TX to Albert and May (Grant) England. She married Walter Jack Lyons in 1927. To this union, two children were born. He preceded her in death in 1948. She later married Duffie Chandler in 1949. Gladys worked as a waitress with Duffie as they owned and operated many local restaurants. She loved to cook and she enjoyed sewing, sending greeting cards and talking on the telephone. She loved music, especially playing the piano. She was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Jack Lyons and Duffie Chandler; her parents; five sisters, Curtis, Evelyn, Maude, Lois and Viola; three brothers, Silas, Beauchamp and Paul and a grandson, Tommy Lyons. She was born on December 15, 1911 in Plainview, Texas to Ronald Scott and Lyda Belle (Gray) Harnish. Her family moved to the Olustee area from Plainview, Texas around 1916 in a covered wagon. She attended schools in Hooper, Texas and Olustee, Oklahoma. She married John Wesley Caudell on February 22, 1927 in Olustee, Ok. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, J. W. Caudell; a grandson Joe Caudell; her sister, Lola Henning and two brothers, Z. T. and Lloyd Harnish. She is survived by her daughter, Nina Jones and husband Ivan of Altus, Ok; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many friends.

Nina Chavez, 61, Altus, passed away Wednesday, December 12 at English Village Manor. Services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.
Delbert Chenault
Delbert Lenwood Chenault was born July 18, 1922, to George and Etta (Dodson) Chenault, in Olustee, OK. He attended Prairie Hill School, and graduated from Altus High School with the class of 1940. He purchased his first farm, just Northwest of Olustee, at the age of 18. On May 22, 1941, he married Lahoma Shipley, in Altus, OK. He was the first cotton farmer in Jackson County to produce a bale of cotton in 1958. He worked hard his entire life, farming and raising cattle in Jackson County for over 60 years. In 1979, he purchased “Johnny’s Steakhouse” which he operated for nearly 20 years. Lahoma preceded Delbert in death in 1981. Mr. Chenault enjoyed auctions, yard sales, and time with friends and family; especially his time spent with those at Friendship Inn. He was a member of the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lahoma; a sister, Gladys Winn; a brother, Wilbur Chenault; and a grandson, Nathan Chenault.

Danny Walt Chester
Danny Walt Chester, 51, Altus, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Altus City Cemetery with Greg Hatchett officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Danny Chester was born September 3, 1955 to Allie Walter Chester and JoAnn Smith. He graduated high school at Wichita Falls, TX. He married Patty Malo on December 2, 1981 in McKinney, TX. He lived in Lubbock, TX and then moved to Altus in the late 90’s. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1975. Danny worked for the City of Altus Parks and Recreation department, for the First Baptist Church in maintenance, and was self-employed as a mechanic. His hobbies were working on motors and cars, fishing and TV sports.
Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Ola Smith, and Allie and Elva Chester. He is survived by two daughters; Delana Chester of Lubbock, TX, Gabrielle Chester of Mangum, OK; three sons; Danny Walt Chester , Jr. and wife Abby of Hurst, TX; Allie Thomas Chester of Altus, and Josh Michael Chester of Muskogee, OK; four brothers; Dennis Chester and wife Shirley of Iowa Park, TX; Donnie Chester and wife Melinda, Iowa Park, TX; Shannon Chester of Altus, and Dewight Chester of Huntsville, TX; one granddaughter, Trinity Beth Chester.

Eula was born May 18, 1924 in Pattonville, Texas to Dan and Hester (Landers) Hammons. She attended high school and graduated from Deport High, Texas. In 1944, she married Arnold Claunch in Rockwall, Texas. She later moved to Altus, Oklahoma and worked at Altus Drug, Bunker Hill Drug, and Rexco Drug, where she worked until her retirement. For her pastime, she enjoyed playing games and reading. She especially loved to play Bingo, 42, and Chicken Foot. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Hester Hammons, one sister Trubie Moore, and three nephews. On November 11, 1944 he married Zola Davis in DeQueen, Arkansas and to this union four children were born. He and Zola lived in Arkansas a short time before moving to Oklahoma. The couple had lived in Fairview, Mustang, Blair and Elk City before moving to Altus in 1958. He was a self-employed plumber and in 1963 established Clements Plumbing Heat and Air in Altus, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Altus where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Usher, Treasurer and as a Deacon from 1968 until 2004. He loved to participate in church activities, attending services, witnessing, and reading the Bible. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Clements and Sam Clements, one sister, Corine Lovell, and one son- in- law, Ira Lee Bryant.
Jack is survived by his wife, Zola, of the home, three daughters, Paula Bryant of Altus, OK, Carla Taubeneck and her husband Lynn, Marla Winters and her husband Glayde, all of Fort Worth, Texas; one son David Clements and wife Cindy of Bronx, N.Y.; three sisters, Geraldine Folsom and her husband J.T. of Nashville, AR, Maurine Lambeth and Ora Lea Andrews both of DeQueen, AR; nine grandchildren, Jeff Bryant and his wife Nadine of Euless, TX, Daniel Bryant and his wife April, of Keller, TX, Deidre Racoma and her husband Robert of Bronx, NY, Crystal Medrano and her husband Chris, of Grand Prairie, TX, Todd Clements of Bronx, NY, Allyster Taubeneck, Andrea Winters, Melody Taubeneck, and Monica Winters, all of Ft. Worth, TX; five great grandchildren, Skylar, Maia, Eliana, Kaylie and Emily and many friends.

Ima Ree Coke,79, of Eldorado, died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Plantation Village Nursing Center, after a long illness. Ima was born November 21, 1926 in Hardeman County, Texas to Clyde and Virgie (Barker) Sheehan. She graduated from Quanah High School in 1944. She married Troy Coke on January 19, 1946 in Quanah, Texas. Before her marriage and in the early years of her marriage she worked as a nurse at Hardeman County Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado, where she sang in the choir and had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 31, 2004, and by her parents, sisters Floy Brandon and Monette Davis and a great grandson, Caleb Waugh. Ima is survived by two sons, Larry Coke and wife Donna, of Altus, and Mark Coke and wife Catherine, of Altus; twin sister, Wanda Combs of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Irene Ritchey of Buckeye, Arizona; sister Nita Richeson of Eldorado; grandchildren, Lori Waugh of Tipton, Kimberly Moore of Lubbock, Texas, Troy Coke III of Bartlesville and Barbara Coke of Norman; and seven great grandchildren.

Wiley E. Combs, 83, Altus, died Thursday evening, April 27, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006 with Les Banks officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow the services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Wiley E. Combs was born February 5, 1923 to Jerry and Vera (Richardson) Combs in Muskogee, OK. He went to Okfuskee County School where he was very active in sports. He played baseball, football, and was a Golden Gloves Boxer. After graduating from high school in 1941, he volunteered for the Army at the age of eighteen. After serving in the Army for 10 years, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served another 20 years. He retired from the military September 1, 1972 after 30 years. He served in WWII, the Korean War and in Vietnam. After he retired, he worked for Treasure City and then Wal-Mart for 12 years, finally retiring in 1994. Wiley married Waltraud “Trudy” Reis on July 4, 1958. To this union three children were born. His life revolved around his wife, children grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his family very much and will always be deeply missed.
Wiley is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, one sister, and one brother-in-law. Pamela Sue Conaway, 45, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 12, 1960 at Self Ridge A.F.B. in Mt. Clements, Michigan to Kenneth Eugene and Joyce Francis (Rising) Fall. She graduated from Altus High School in 1979 and attended vocational technical school for one year to study medical transcription. She married Gerald “Gee” Conaway on May 15, 1982 in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1997. She worked at Wal-Mart for about six years and was also a back up customer service manager (CSM). She was proud of her work and appreciated her friends at work. She was a Christian, enjoyed bingo, crochet, card games and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a twin brother at birth. She is survived by one daughter and one son, Rebecca and Dennis Conaway, both of the home in Altus; one brother Mike Fall and wife Dana of Oklahoma City, Ok; one sister Sherrie Thompson and husband Donnie of Waco, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Corey English, Albuquerque, N.M.; Nancy Hake of Imperial, Mo; and many friends.

She was born on July 30, 1924 in San Marcos, Texas to George and Rosie Smith. She attended school in San Marcos, Texas. She married Floyd Fisher Sr. in 1940 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She later married LaVerne Cooper in 1950 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Lloyd R. Fisher and a brother, Rochell Hamilton. She is survived by two sons, Floyd G. Fisher, Jr.; Gary L. Cooper, Jr.; one sister Ethel Mae Haywood; 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and many friends.
Gayleen Keith Copeland
Gayleen Keith Copeland, 49, Altus, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be 3 P.M. Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Kincannon Funeral Home.
He was born on August 13, 1957 to William Copeland and Vashti Cross in Clinton, Oklahoma. He attended Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. His spouse of 17 years was Bertha Dorsey. He worked at the Sunrise Café for 6 years. He attended the Family Worship Center. His hobbies were fishing, bike riding, sports, singing, and bingo.

Clemente Cornado
Clemente Coronado, 84, passed away Saturday, August 16, at his home in Eldorado. Clemente was born February 2, 1924 in Guerrero, Mexico to Jose Maria and Narcisa Coronado. In 1951 he married Guadalupe (Villarreal) Granados in Mathis, Texas. He was a member of the Templo La Hermosa Pentecostal Church in Hollis, OK. He worked mostly as a farmer and raised hogs. He enjoyed family gatherings and loved to listen to Christian music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, two sons and one grandson. Betty L. Cosyns
Mrs. Betty L. Cosyns passed away on Monday, March 28, 2005 at the age of 76. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A. M. She was a native of Altus, OK and a resident of Madera, CA since 1963. Betty was a member of the Sunset Avenue Church of Christ and attended St. Joachim Catholic Church. Betty, a homemaker also worked as a furniture salesperson and interior decorator for 30 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post #1981 in Madera and the Madera County Farm Bureau. Betty also enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her son Charles Drury and her parents Pete and Winnie Billington.
She is survived by her husband Albert Cosyns of Madera, CA with whom she celebrated 25 years of marriage on February 8th of this year. Betty’s children include Nyeeta Smith and her husband Darryl of Blair, OK, Brant Drury and his wife Kathy of Chickasha, OK, and Terry Drury and his wife Diane of Blair, OK. Betty’s stepchildren include Allen Cosyns and his companion Susan Guglielmana of Madera, CA, Linda Reynoso and her husband Carlos of Fresno, CA, and Rick Cosyns and his wife Lynne of Madera, CA. She is the sister of Grady Billington and his wife Janet of Madera, CA, Jim Billington and his wife June of Altus, OK, and Pat Autrey and her husband Wendell of Katy, TX. Gussie Faye Cotney, 97, Altus, Oklahoma, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Texoma Christian Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Gussie was born on March 28, 1910, in Haggensport, Texas, to Iva L and Mattie L. (Neely) Collier. She attended Ozark School. She married W. H. “Herbert” Cotney in August of 1926, in Altus, Oklahoma. To this union was born one son, Kenith Cotney. She spent many years in ladies retail clothing, including J. C. Penney’s, Dunlap’s, and many years at Janet’s, retiring in the 1980’s. Gussie enjoyed cooking, playing board games with friends, sewing, attending church and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Kenith Cotney and wife Grace of Wichita Falls, TX; grandson Eric Cotney and wife Tiffany of Allen, Tx.; step-granddaughter Cyndi Epperson and husband Pete of Marysville, CA; great-grandchildren Liliana Pearl Cotney and Alexander Eric Cotney; two sisters-in-law Elwanda Cotney of Altus; Loraine Pryor of Dallas, Tx; five nephews Walter Hoehne; Joy Lynn and Mike Collier; Mark and Kent Cotney; five nieces Annette, Sherry, Vicky, Patty and Janet; and many friends too numerous to count. Charles Henry Cousins
Charles Henry Cousins, “Charlie”, was a military veteran, devoted husband, father and a friend to everyone he met. Charlie, age 65, long time resident of Altus, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City from lung cancer complications.
Funeral services for Charlie will be Saturday, Nov. 8,2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Bill Osborne officiating. Interment will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Charlie was born May 28, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1963 where he started as an engine mechanic. He soon changed career fields where he spent the remainder of his military career as a C-5 Loadmaster. Charlie retired from the Air Force and went to work for Flight Safety where he spent 20 years teaching at the basic loadmaster training school. In 2002, at age 59, he went back to school and graduated from Western Oklahoma State College with an associate’s degree in Applied Science. Charlie’s great passions were his family, kids, his two dogs and racing. He enjoyed being with friends and just hanging out and shooting the breeze.
He is preceded in death by his sister Jeanne Vowell, his step father Berkly Powell and his father Charles Cousins.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, of the home; Five daughters, Valerie Graham of Port Orange, FL; Julie Carpenter, and husband Greg, of Headrick, OK; Lisa Jabbour, and husband Derek, of New Hampshire; Donna Bonalewicz of Altus, OK; and Rachel Bonalewicz of New Hampshire. Two sons, Charles Henry Cousins III, and wife Michelle, of Port Orange, FL; and Stewart Charles Cousins, and wife Valerie, of Tolono, IL.He is also survived by his mother, Vera Powell of Edgewater, FL.; brothers, Robert Cousins and wife, Peggy and Buck Powell and wife, Nina all of Edgewater, FL. He is survived by his 13 grandchildren; Katelan, Tanner, Jamie, Tyler, Kielan, Chandler, Caroline, Nathan, Christian, Brielle, Charles IV, Chloe, Christa and a host of many friends.

Stella R. Critchfield
Stella R. Critchfield, 79, died March 26, 2008 at her home in Altus, OK. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Odema Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Stella was born June 20, 1928 in Eldorado, OK to Albert and Opal (Brock) Ballou. Stella started school in Eldorado and then transferred to Olustee Schools. In 1952, she married Wesley Critchfield in Vernon, Texas. She was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed being part of the Senior Citizens organization. She loved helping those in need.

Vashti Cross
Vashti Cross, 73, Altus, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born on November 8, 1932 in Altus, Oklahoma to Herman and Celestine (Daggett) Wheeler. She attended Lincoln School in Altus. She married William Copeland and he preceded her in death in 2003. She married Rev. Bert Cross in 1962 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She worked in several restaurants and cafes in Dallas for about 9 years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Christ for many years. She was a very devoted Christian and very well known in the community. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, jigsaw puzzles and fishing. She was the President of the sewing circle at church and was on the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands William Copeland, Rev. Bert Cross and her sister Eva Mae Gibson. She is survived by six children; four sons and two daughters; Isophene Allen, William Copeland, Jr., Todella Copeland, Vicki Steel, Gayland Copeland, Norris Copeland; a sister Herlene Lewis; an aunt Dorothy Jackson; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Hubert Wayne Crowley
Hubert Wayne Crowley, 65, Altus, passed away peacefully at his sisters home surrounded by all his family and friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2007 at Kincannon Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at the Tipton Cemetery.
He was born on August 25, 1941 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Randall Hugh “Choc” and Nola Lee (Farrar) Crowley. He attended Tipton Public School and he served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He loved farming, raising cattle, running a salvage business, visiting with friends and neighbors. He also loved his dog, Jake.
Hubert was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Lois Farrar and Iva Grace (Frazier) Farrar, Julius Ellsworth Crowley and Ethyl Zurette Phillips Crowley. Several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his daughter Misty Shea (Crowley) Posas and her husband Gilbert of Hobart, OK; three stepsons, Keith Miller and wife Susan of Cold Springs/ Roosevelt, OK, Dwayne Miller of Cold Springs/ Roosevelt, OK, and Junior Miller and wife Elizabeth of Mustang, OK; his parents R.H. and Nola Lee Crowley of Altus, OK, and a sister, Dianne Coe and husband Eddie of Altus, OK; grandchildren, Tyler Crowley, A.J. and Marco Posas, Shenoah, Savannah, Patrick, and Sooner Miller, Amber and Dusty Miller, Aaron, Ashley, Bobby Joe and Christie Miller; Great-grandchildren, Trinity and Mason . Randall "Choc" Hugh Crowley
Randall Hugh Crowley (known to many as Choc) went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning November 2, 2008 at his home in Altus, OK.
He was born in Nocona, TX, to Julius Elzworth and Ethel Zurerre (Phillps) Crowley on February 20, 1917.
Randall and Nola Lee Farrar were married in Altus, OK on July 5, 1938. Four years later they were blessed with the birth of their first child, a son, Hubert Wayne Crowley. Nine years later they were blessed with their second child, Dianna L. Crowley.
In July of this year they celebrated seventy wonderful years together.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Tipton. He served on several committee’s and as a greeter for many years. He remained an active member of the church until he moved to Altus.
Randall began his married life farming around the Snyder area. In 1948, he moved his family to Tipton. He and Nola made their home there until moving to Altus in 2005 to be closer to their children. When they moved to Tipton he accepted a position with Tillman County District One in Tipton. He operated a road grader for 32 years before retiring in 1980. Although he retired he didn’t stop working. He and his son farmed and raised cattle in and around the Friendship area. After his son’s death, he still enjoyed going to the farm watching the cattle graze and new calves being born.
He loved life and always had a positive attitude. Family was very important to him.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman until his latter years when his eyesight began to fail him. He taught his son, grandson, and great-grandson the pleasures of hunting and fishing.
Randall was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Selma Holley, Ona Haines, and Lela Frysinger and one brother, Avery Crowley. His pride and joy, his son, Hubert W. Crowley.
He leaves behind his wife, Nola Lee, of the home, his daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Eddie Coe of Altus, his youngest brother, Elton Crowley of Mississippi, granddaughter Kelly Coe, Altus, great- grandson Kyle Evan Coe, who was recently deployed to Iraq and wife Shannon of Altus, and great- granddaughter Taryn Kelli Lindsey, Midwest City.
His only grandson, Bryan Coe and wife Michelle, Altus and son Jordan Ramirez, and granddaughter Misty Crowley-Posas and husband Gilbert of Hobart. Great-grandsons Tyler Dillon Crowley, A.j. and Marco Posas.
Randall will miss the birth of his great -great -grandchild that is to be born in December 2008.
Although he is rejoicing with his Lord and Savior, he will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
