Harold C. Ingraham

Harold C. Ingraham, 92, Altus, died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Tamarack Assisted Living Center. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Altus City Cemetery with Matt Springfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     He was born on September 14, 1914 in Newton Falls, Ohio, to Lawrence Wood Ingram and Alice M. (Corey).  He graduated from Trumbull High School, Trumbull, Ohio, in 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from March of 1941 until May of 1945. He went to Europe on the Queen Elizabeth and was in the European Theater of Operations. He came back to the U.S. on the E.B. Alexander. He remembered a plaque on the ship, “Amerika”, which was the German spelling of America. He also taught two years in a mechanical school. He was a member of the 740th Tank Battalion and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He married Helen Dacus on October 25, 1921, in Weatherford, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2004. He worked for 42 years in Civil Service as Director of Vehicle Maintenance at Reese A.F.B. in Lubbock, Texas.

     He was a member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge of Lubbock, Texas. He enjoyed boating, driving fast, motorcycles, traveling, tinkering and repair work, writing, riddles, puzzles and spending time with his family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Mickey Shriver; one brother and one sister. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Frances Shriver of Altus; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Gray of Missouri; Mary Callison and husband John of Ft. Worth, Tx; Mickey Shriver, Jr. and wife Kelly of Ft. Worth, Tx; Robert Shriver of Altus, Ok; Genia Glenn and husband Randy of Altus, Ok; Sherry De Ray and husband David of Colorado Springs, Co; John Paul Shriver and wife Trish of Elk City, Ok; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 

J. C. Ivey

    J. C. Ivey, 72, Altus, died Monday, June 25, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Brother Ronald Lowell officiating. Burial, with full military, honors will be 1:00 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     He was born on November 3, 1934 in Lakeview, S.C. to Wister B. and Rosa Etta (Harrelson) Ivey. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 12, 1953 following high school graduation, and spent three years of active duty service in Germany. He returned home to marry Joyce Stephens on December 28, 1956 in Dillon, S.C. Mr. Ivey re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served in many locations. He proudly served for 15 months in Taiwan, with the remainder of his career being served stateside. He retired on June 30, 1974, following 21 years of military service. Later he worked at W.O.S.C. for several years as custodian and security, retiring in 1995. He was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the National Rifleman’s Association and the Disabled American Veterans. He had completed two years of college at W.O.S.C. He enjoyed fishing, marksmanship shooting, gardening, spending time with his family and helping others. His final wish was that of a Life Share Donor.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Wilbert King and Ronnie Ivey. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 50 years; two daughters, Valerie Gay Bodart and husband Curt of Madison, Alabama; Crystal Weems and husband John of Altus and many friends.
