Paul Angel Ledesma

    Paul Angel Ledesma, 32, Denver, CO, formerly of Altus, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in Denver, CO. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Ventonis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.  

    Paul Ledesma was born November 18, 1975 to Paul Johnson and Rosa Martinez in Altus, Oklahoma.  Paul attended Altus Public Schools. He married Veronica Garcia in 1994.  Paul worked in the retail clothing industry.  He enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, drawing, fishing, poetry, and music.  He was of the Christian faith. 

    Paul is survived by his mother, Rosa Martinez of Altus; father, Paul Johnson; grandmother, Geraldine Irvin; one son, Paul Anthony Ledesma; and one daughter, Haley Ranae Ledesma, the children’s mother, Veronica, all of Altus; five brothers, Ringo Ledesma and wife Sofia of Edcouch, TX, Raul Ledesma and wife Jennifer, Joe Ledesma, and Quentin Richie all of Altus. Ana Marie Leistner

    Ana Marie Leistner, 26, Altus, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Morey officiating.

     She was born on June 25, 1981 in Altus to Michael and Pamela (Hamby) Leistner. Ana Marie was raised by her grandparents, Charles and Patricia Leistner, of Altus. She attended Altus Schools and was an Honor Student, graduating in 1999 from Altus High School. She received State Honors playing the trombone in the Altus Jr. High Band. She attained an Associate of Arts Degree from W.O.S.C. and a Medical Transcription Certification from Southwest VoTech Center in Altus. She enjoyed music, drawing and writing.

     She is survived by her father and stepmother Michael and Gwen Leistner of Strongsville, Ohio; several aunts and uncles, Tom and Stephanie Leistner of Elk City, Ok; Mark and Debra Leistner of Hobart, Ok; Charles and Hitomi Leistner of Fairfield, Ca; Stephen and Christine Leistner of Lone Wolf, Ok; Mary Leistner of Granite, Ok; cousins, Kyle and Brooke Leistner of Elk City, Ok; Keith Patrick Leistner of Hobart, Ok; Charles and Patricia Leistner of Lawrence, Ks; Stephanie Newton and Travis Leistner both of Granite, Ok. Delhia "Miss Dee" Mae Lester

        Delhia "Miss Dee" Mae Lester, 66, Altus, died Tuesday February 15, 2005 at the English Village Nursing Home.  Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00P.M. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel.  Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

    Delhia 'Dee' Mae Lester was born July 17, 1938 in New Haven, CT.  She lost her parents at a very early age.  She spent many years living with different families and finally at the age of 12 went out on her own.  Delhia has not had an easy life but faced all the adversity head on.  She was not a quitter and spent her life trying to help others.  She married  Alton T. Lester, a former Army private, firefighter for the Norfolk Virginia Fire Department and artist.  From this marriage came her only child, Jennifer.  She lost her husband in 1980.  She moved to Altus with Jennifer in 1985 and obtained employment at Altus Air Force Base.  She had worked there until retirement in 2004.  She had a very rewarding career.  She obtained many awards and even a medal on her retirement.  She was very respected, loved and generous woman.  She left her mark on many lives.

    Delhia initiated the 'Angel Tree'  that provide Christmas to many less fortunate children at Christmas time.  She spent hours upon hours of her free time making quilts and and lap blankets which she donated to the Indian Hospital, Veterans Hospital and nursing homes.  If she heard of a need, she took it upon herself with a network of friends to help.  She cleaned, repaired and shipped thousands of pieces of clothing to the Appalachian children to help them.  She also donated to them school supplies.

    Dee had various hobbies and her love of sewing and cooking usually played a part in them.  She also had various trades in her life besides the Air Force Base.  Among those are general construction contractor, appointment clerk, a licensed firearms dealer, logging, experienced seamstress, teacher in various schools including Prospect Christian Academy in Virginia.  She also taught at churches and home extension offices in Virginia.  She ran and managed a 30 acre farm a firewood business.  She was a Food Service Super and Assistant Instructor.  Her most important and most rewarding job was one as a homemaker and mother.

    She took so much pride in her family, she assisted her husband Alton in purchasing, renovating and selling investment properties.  She also sacrificed and saved to make her daughter's dream and skills as an artist come true.  She took great pride and pleasure in all of Jennifer's art but none more so than the painting she did on the fence of her home and her front walkway.  Dee is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Menkouchi and husband Abdullah, Morroco.

    She also leaves behind her extended family Sherri and Tommy Fagan of Altus, Sharon and David Bradford of Altus, Zac Finley of Hollis, Mindy Tucker of Altus, Joanne Roberts of Altus, Jamie Schumacher of Altus and David and Dawn Philpott, FL.

    She has left behind so many friends and especially all the little kids whom all knew her as Miss Dee and her special friend, Kim Bailey, Bob Harris and Gina Tolbert all of Altus. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of the American Kidney Association.

Peggy Pryor Leonard

Peggy Pryor Leonard, 76, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at her home in Olustee, Oklahoma.  Private memorial services will be held at a later date.  The Leonard family will greet friends on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home. 

 Peggy was born on April 8, 1930 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Joseph L. Pryor and Bessie Faye (Parman) Pryor.  Peggy was married to Dennis G. Leonard in 1941.  Peggy worked as an accountant for most of her life.

 Peggy is survived by one daughter, DeAnne Leonard Warren of Olustee, Oklahoma and one son, Dennis Joe Leonard of Jasper, Tennessee, four grandchildren; Dennis A. Leonard, Thomasville, Georgia, Elizabeth J. Williams, Watertown, Tennessee, Jessica L. Warren, Altus, Oklahoma, and Whitney J. Warren, Olustee, Oklahoma.  Two brothers, William N. Pryor of Yukon, Oklahoma, and John C. Pryor of Olustee, Oklahoma also survive her as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Dennis; her mother and father, Bessie and Joseph Pryor; four brothers, Joseph L. Pryor, Ralph P. Pryor, James R. Pryor and Patrick L. Pryor. Mary Jane Levick

       Mary Jane Levick, 77, of Headrick, Oklahoma, died Friday, September 30, 2005 at Altus, Oklahoma after a brief illness.  Graveside services will be Monday, October 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

    She was born on May 5, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas to the late Maida Edwards Ward and the late Earl Edwards.  She married Jack Levick on July 19, 1956 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.  She was a beautician and a homemaker.

    She is survived by her husband of the home.  A daughter, Pamela Imel, and her husband, Larry, of Vernon, Texas; two grandsons, Robert Imel and Timothy Imel of Vernon Texas; a granddaughter, April Sneed of Vernon, Texas; four great-grandchildren; one step-sister, Bernice Boyd of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law, Helen Levick of Altus, Oklahoma.

Ivan Charles Lewis

        Ivan Charles Lewis, 87, of Blair, Oklahoma, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Plantation Village Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2008 at the Blair First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

        He was born on February 6, 1921 in Lane County Kansas to Charlie and Stella (Williams) Lewis. He graduated high school at Dighton, Kansas. He married Jacqueline Wheeler on December 22, 1967 at Blair.

        Ivan farmed the family farm for his mom during the war years.  His love for combines began a life long career of harvesting that lasted 55 years.  His venture was to load his combines on trucks and come south from Kansas to follow the wheat harvest back north all the way from Oklahoma to North Dakota.  In the fall, he harvested milo in Texas.  He loved to play dominos, cards and chess. He especially enjoyed playing games with the grandchildren. No matter who he played, he usually won, but he always let the grandkids win.  Ivan was a member of Blair First Baptist Church.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Ronnie Wheeler; a grandson, Michael Engle; a great-granddaughter, Mary Katherine McNutt; one daughter-in-law, Billie Lewis; three sons-in-law, Ben Sirmons, Alan Wilcox and Dale Carrico; six brothers; and two sisters.

        He is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Blair, OK; three daughters, Carla Carrico of Katy, TX, Cathy Bevers, and husband Donnie of Altus, Maxine Adams and husband, Ronnie, of Weatherford, OK; three sons, Curtis Lewis and wife, Kathy, of Scott City, KS, Quinton Lewis of Blair, and Craig Lewis of Hays, KS; four step-daughters, Roberta Graves and husband, Perry of Blair, Joy Hokett and husband, Darell, of Blair, Bonita Engle and husband, Mike of Altus, and Belinda Wilcox of Altus; one sister, Wanda Brence and husband, Fhilo of Hollister, MO; two brothers, Dales Lewis and wife, Mildred, of Hutchinson, KS; and Lyle Lewis and wife, Harriet of Dighton, KS; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lewis of Dighton, KS, and Dorothy Lewis of Dighton, KS; twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann Lewis

    Jo Ann Lewis, 69, Altus, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.   Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. George Lupton officiating.  Burial services will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     Jo Ann was born March 10, 1937 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Walter Lee and Audra (Sparks) Seay.  She attended school and graduated from Konawa High School in 1955.  She married Donald E. Lewis, July 2 1922 at the 1st Methodist Church in Konawa, OK.  She and her husband were able to travel all over the world due to Donald’s career in the Air Force.  She was the grounding force in her family by providing unconditional love and support in all of their adventures.  After returning stateside in 1976, Jo Ann and Donald made Altus their home.  She earned her real estate license and worked part time for Rodger’s Realty for many years.  Jo Ann also was Donald’s partner in his garage door business and rental property endeavors. She became a member of the First United Methodist Church and the BPW Club of Altus.  She was also a Lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary DAV.  She enjoyed sewing and crafting throughout the years. Attending her grandchildren’s numerous activities gave her great pleasure.

    She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Donald, of the home; one daughter, Beth Cosgrove of Lawton, OK; one son Clayton E. Lewis  and wife Janice Davis Lewis of Southlake, TX; one sister Jean Johnson of Cache, OK; a brother-in-law, Jim Lewis and his wife  Novella  of Del City, OK;  a sister-in-law Dasie Lewis and husband Eddie of Enid, OK; six grandchildren, Brant  Brock and wife Valerie, Trip Brock, Hayley Don Cosgrove, Heather, Ginger, and Sage Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.

        Ray L. Linton, 74, Altus, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at his home. Funeral services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.

Beatrice A. Risner Lipps

    Beatrice A. Risner Lipps, 93, of Altus, OK, passed away early Thursday morning, April 12, 2007 at Plantation Village Nursing Center.  

    Beatrice Lipps was born March 25, 1914, in Dennison, TX to Shug and Margaret (Davis) Moser. She would move to Apache, OK as a child and attended Apache Schools. She graduated from Apache High School in 1932. In 1933 she married Newton Wallace Risner and to this union three children were born. They remained married until Newton’s untimely death in 1955. She later married John J. Lipps in 1962 and enjoyed 23 years of marriage. John passed away in 1985.

    Bea worked most of her life as a floral designer and enjoyed reading and exercise. She enjoyed fitness and exercise long before it was fashionable to do so. Later in life she enjoyed playing dominoes and her water aerobics class. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ and attended Thomas Street Church of Christ here in Altus.

    “Momma Bea” was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two daughters, Doris Risner, who passed as a child, and Mary Ann Risner Gibson; and one brother, Willard Moser. She is survived by her son, Dr. Roy Lee Risner and wife Nancy, of Encinitas, CA; 4 grandchildren: Kelly and husband Steve Todd, of Wichita Falls, TX; Rusty Gibson of Plano, TX; Blake Risner and wife Nancy, of Glenwood Springs, CO ; and Brooke Gattis and husband Kenny, of Altus, OK: 8 great-grandchildren, and many, many dear friends. 

    Funeral Services for Mrs. Lipps are scheduled for Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Kincannon Funeral Home with burial following the services at Restlawn Cemetery in Altus. Linda Jane Little

        Linda Jane Little, 60, of Altus, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Celebration of life services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Chapel with her sister, Donna Glenn, and close family friend, Andy Ray Phillips, officiating. Burial will be at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. 

         Linda was born March 3, 1948 to Harry and June (Host) Baird at the Panama Canal Zone. She graduated high school in 1966 at Wichita, KS.  She loved her computer and meeting new people via the internet, making friends all over the world.  She loved classic rock music, cats, and writing poetry.  In fact, Linda was a nationally published poet.    She worked at Arby's, the bakery and the concession stand at the AAFB swimming pool.

         Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

        She is survived by a brother, Greg Baird, and wife, Rita, of Reston VA, and one sister, Donna Glenn of Altus.  Linda was recognized as family by the Virgina Phillips family.

 Marjorie Ann Lobaugh

    Marjorie Ann Lobaugh, 67, of Altus, OK died Friday, July 6, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.  Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.  

    Marjorie was born June 3, 1940 to Albert and Virginia (Lyons) Roberts in Wheeling, West Virginia.   She married Edward Lobaugh on February 18, 1961 in Charleston, West Virginia. Ms. Lobaugh graduated high school at Wheeling, West Virginia in 1959. She enlisted and served in the U.S. Marines from 1959 to 1961.  Ms. Lobaugh was of the Baptist faith.  After serving in the Marines, she became a homemaker.  She was a RSVP, the Red Cross and on the Election Board.  She enjoyed collecting hats and crocheting. She was known around Altus as “the hat lady”.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward; and one daughter, Suzanne Marie. She is survived by five daughters, Linda Moritz and husband, Danny of Arkansas City, Kansas; Donna Lobaugh and husband, Steve of Altus; Michelle Sole and husband, Larry of Olustee; Teresa Johnson and husband, Larry, of Altus; Cynthia Hayot and husband, Marc, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and one son, Edward Lobaugh, Jr. and wife, Regina, of St. Helens, Oregon; three sisters, Nancy Stoeber and husband, Ron of Denver; Colorado; Karen Diss of Columbus, Ohio; Patty Chess of Wheeling, West Virginia; and one brother, Tom Roberts and wife, Mildred, of Louisville, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren, Robert, April, Brandilyn, Colt, Paul, Tanya, Timothy, Shawn, Shane, Brooke, Ashley, Kalonie, and Christopher; seven great-grandchildren; one special friend, Carmen Maxey, of Blanchard, Oklahoma and many other family members and friends.

Maudie Belle Lockwood

    Maudie Belle Lockwood, 86, Altus, died Monday, January 09, 2006 at the Grace Living Center.  Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday January 11, 2005 at the Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.   

    Maudie Belle Lockwood was born July 9, 1918 in Lawton, OK to Frank Lockwood and Goldie (Crabb) Lockwood.  She spent most of her life in Altus, OK before moving to Amarillo, TX in 1965.  In her illness, she wanted to move closer to her brother James.  She was cared for a Grace Living Center.  She was a loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dalton Paris Lockwood and one sister, Lola Mae Palmer.

    She is survived by her brother, James Lockwood of Altus, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Lorena Lockwood of Winnsboro, TX and sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and L.D. Milton Odell Lockwood

    Milton Odell Lockwood, 83, formerly of Altus, died Monday, November 28, 2006 at Winnsboro, Texas.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2006 at Kincannon’s Memorial Chapel with Rod Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     Mr. Lockwood was born on July 19, 1923 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Frank W. Lockwood and Goldie E. (Crabb) Lockwood. He attended Altus Public Schools.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.  He worked for the Katy Railroad as a brakeman/conductor and retired after 35 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion and a Mason for 52 years. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus.  He married Lorena Leah Herring on October 10, 1991 in Altus, Oklahoma.  

     He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maude Bell Lockwood and Lola Mae Palamar; and a brother, D.P. Lockwood. He is survived by a son, Stephen Odell Lockwood of Billington, Wa., a step-daughter, Renee Diana Parrent Anderson; three step-sons, J.G. Walton Parrent, Jr., Daniel Gale Parrent, and Matthew Dave Parrent; a sister Hazel Crones of Odessa, Tx.; a brother James William Lockwood of Altus, Ok.; two grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, seven great-step-grandchildren and many friends.

Carl N. “Nemo” Lollis

    Carl N. “Nemo” Lollis, 92, longtime Altus resident, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Plantation Nursing Home in Altus. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ with Tom Bailey and Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     He was born on May 8, 1914 in Kilgore, Texas to Charlie and Viola (Bickley) Lollis. He attended Newlin School in Memphis, Texas. He married Velma Herrington on November 26, 1935 in Levelland, Texas. They were married for 63 years until her death in 1998. Nemo owned and operated the Lollis Garage at Duck’s Corner East of Altus for over 50 years from 1946 to 1999. Nemo was a meticulous mechanic who specialized in the service of Studebaker cars and trucks. He was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. He enjoyed flying his own plane, riding motorcycles (which he wrecked at age 87), running his Studebaker service shop and spending time with family and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Velma and four brothers, Avery, James, Virgil and Grover Lollis. He is survived by two daughters, Morene Popchoke and husband Donnie of Altus; Betty Baumann and husband Bill of Fort Worth, Tx; two sisters, Mary Frisbie and husband Paul of Plainview, Tx; Martha Kiem and husband Jake of Perryton, Tx; one brother Bill Lollis and wife Chlois of Adel, Ga; four grandchildren, Debby Green and husband David of Euless, Tx; Tommy Popchocke of Oklahoma City, Ok; Pam McGlaun and husband Gerald of Aledo, Tx; Janet Stanley and husband Michael of Fort Worth, Tx; six great grandchildren, Kent McGlaun of Aledo, Tx; Mary Ellen Stanley of Fort Worth, Tx; Brad Popchoke and wife Amy of Oklahoma City, Ok; Whitney Popchoke of Oklahoma City, Ok; Dustin Green of Euless, Tx; Austin Green and wife Melissa of Euless, Tx. and many friends. Gwendolyn T. Long

    Gwendolyn T. Long, 84, Eldorado, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Eldorado Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     She was born on October 24, 1922 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Archie H. and Lizzie (Harvey) Jarvis. She attended Odema and Eldorado Schools. She worked tirelessly as a homemaker, was a faithful wife and mother with a servants heart. She was a long time member of the Eldorado Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Lizzie, and brother, Fred Jarvis.

     She is survived by her husband Donley Long of the home in Eldorado; two daughters, Sherry Long of Lawton, Ok; Shirley Allison and husband Thomas of Wichita Falls, Tx;  granddaughter Theresa Maynard and husband Mathew; granddaughter Toni Skinner; great grandson, Gabe Maynard; One sister, Katherine Yechsavich of Oxnard, Ca; one brother, Holland Jarvis and wife Naomi of Lubbock, Texas and many friends.  

Cecilia Ybarra Lopez

    Cecilia Ybarra Lopez, 71, Olustee, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Kincannon’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Abe Salazar officiating. Burial will follow services at the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     She was born on November 22, 1934 in Martindale, Texas to Pasqual and Gregoria (Mendez) Ybarra. She attended school in Martindale, Texas. She married Ascension Luis Lopez in January of 1956. They moved to Olustee, Oklahoma in 1957 which has been their home ever since. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew, garden and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Olustee Assembly of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always there for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all. 

     She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by one son, Elias Lopez and wife Merida of Olustee, Ok; five daughters, Celia Almarez and husband Juan of Kyle, Tx; Esmeralda Lopez and husband Gumaro Almanza of Olustee, Ok; Mary Gonzalez and husband Marcos of Altus, Ok; Eva Bailey and husband Allen of Crestview, Fl; Esperanza (Hope) Lopez and husband Eddie Ramirez of Olustee, Ok; sixteen grandchildren, Abraham and Adrian Borrego; Benjamin Montoya, Veronica Almanza; Jacob Isreal Lopez, Priscilla Lopez, Adriana Lopez, Mark Anthony Gonzalez, Jacqueline Marie Gonzalez, Issac Hugo Gonzalez, Eddie Cliff and Roxanne Isabel Ramirez, Pearl Barry, Jessica and Gabriella Sophia Vazquez, Jeremy Bailey; thirteen great grand children; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Henry Genaro Lopez, Sr

        Henry Genaro Lopez, Sr., 73, Altus, died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.  Funeral Mass services are scheduled for  10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joe Arledge officiating and burial following at the Altus City Cemetery.   A rosary service has been scheduled for 7:00  P.M. Wednesday at the Kincannon Funeral Home.  Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

    Henry Genaro Lopez was born December 2, 1931 in Fort McKavett, TX. to Rosendo Reyes and Paula A. (Hernandez) Lopez.  At a very young age, he helped support his immediate family and then later married Lela Jewel Ellis on March 21, 1953 in Vernon, TX.  To this union, five children were born.  He worked at Altus Air Force Base, Tinker Air Force Base and numerous other cities in Oklahoma.  He worked as a mechanic, including automobiles, diesel engines and bull dozers.  He welded and helped build the runway at Altus Air Force Base.  In addition, he has owned and operated Lopez Disposal.  In 1962, he worked in Sadalia, Mo. at the Missle Site as a minute man.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, sheep shearing and baseball.  He was a member of the Catholic faith.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ernest and a daughter Tessie. He is survived by his wife, Lela Jewel of the home;  his daughter, Anita Marie Zein of Dallas, TX;  three sons, Sonny Lopez,  Ron Lopez and wife Cris and Genaro Lopez and wife Ofelia, all of Austin, TX; a sister Angie Yzaguirre of Olney, Texas. Severiano (Sammy) Lopez

    Severiano (Sammy) Lopez, 67, of Dallas, Texas died Friday, February 1, 2008, at his home.  Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Altus City Cemetery with Father Joe Arledge officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. 

    Severiano Lopez was born February 21, 1940, in Hidalgo, Texas to Francisco Lopez and Maria (Manuela) Lopez.  He married Maria Juarez in Dallas, Texas.  He lived in the Altus area during the 50’s and early 60’s.   He worked as an assembly line worker for General Motors for all his life.  He was of Catholic Faith.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jose Garcia. He is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters, Linda Lee Lopez, Mary Ellen Lopez, and Tracy Lopez Dorato; six sons, Nicholas Lopez, Adam Lopez, Albert Lopez, Robert Navarro, Severiano Lopez, Jr., and Francisco Lopez; three sisters, Guadalupe Lopez, Elizabeth Abila, and Janie Gray; two brothers, Maximilliano Garcia, and Erasmo Lopez; as well as several grandchildren. Vera Lucille Lovell

        Vera Lucille Lovell, 91, Altus, died April 26, 2005 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.  Graveside services will be  11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Clinton Cemetery, Clinton , Ok.  Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

        Vera was born May 13, 1913 in Robinson, Kansas to Grover C. and Flavel (Hedgecock) Dickinson.  She grew up and attended school in Hiawatha, KS.  She married Arvel F. Lovell in November of 1930 at St. Joseph, MO.  To this union, a daughter was born.  She moved to Clinton, OK in 1936. She attended and graduated from the first class of the Altus Beauty School in 1958. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Clinton, Oklahoma for 10 years. She worked as support staff for the Clinton Public School for 14 years and moved to Altus in 1981. She was a member of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program where she was a volunteer for 15 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and reading.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton. 

        She was preceded in death by her husband;  her parents; five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her daughter, June Bailey and husband Rex of Altus, OK;  granddaughter, Debra Vassella and Rick Vassella of Altus, OK and grandson, Terry Bailey and wife Renee of Plano, TX;  four great grandchildren, Michael Vassella, Coby Bailey, Taylor Bailey and Colton Bailey and many friends.

Juanita Lovett   

        Juanita Lovett, 93, Altus, died Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Chapel with Bill Osborne and Rev. Al Davis officiating. Interment will follow services at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

        She was born on September 4, 1912 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Maggie (Thrash) Chambers. She attended Harmony School south of Olustee, Oklahoma in Jackson County. She married Claud Lovett on August 6, 1934 in Phoenix, Arizona. She worked at Jackson County Memorial Hospital for 22 years in the dietary department. She retired in 1978. She was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, needlecrafts, quilting and spending time with her family.

        She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claud; her son Benny Lovett; four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter Jo Ann Stephens and husband Jim of Altus; a granddaughter Jeri Neito and husband David of Oklahoma City; three grandsons, Jim Stephens of Altus; David Lovett and wife Susie of Cameron, TX; Lloyd Lovett also of Cameron, TX; two great granddaughters, Zarah Stephens and significant other, D. Yarborough of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Anita Stephens of Altus; her great grandson, Geffery Stephens of Oklahoma City, OK; her great great grandson Grant Stephens of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; a special friend special Denise Tully and many friends.

Mary Jo “Jody” Lucas

        Mary Jo “Jody” Lucas, 80, of Altus, OK. died Sunday, July 23rd, 2006 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.   

        “Jody” Lucas was born November 10, 1925 in Vernon, TX. to Ed and Hattie (Killough) Stephens. She attended school at Elmer and Southside, and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Altus. She married George Crouch on April 15th, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1972. On September 1st, 1972 she married Chester Jones of Altus, who preceded her in death in October of 1998. She married Roy Lucas, also of Altus, February 28th, 2004. She worked as a sales representative, for Avon, for 39 ½ years and her hobbies included cooking, canning, sewing and spending time with her family.  

        She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George Crouch and Chester Jones, a brother Ross Stephens, and an infant daughter Starla Jean Crouch. She is survived by her husband, Roy Lucas of the home; two daughters, Barbara Belshe of Irving, Texas; Janet Fowler and husband Jerry of Poulan, Georgia; three sons, Floyd Crouch and wife Lois of Denver, Co; Stephen Crouch and wife Lorrie of Pt. Charlotte, Fl; Jerry Lucas and wife Eva Letha of Elmer, Ok; three sisters, Alyne Claiborne of Altus, Ok; Christine Heaton of San Diego, Ca; Ruth Dirks and husband John of Derby, Ks; brother, Ray Stephens and wife Linda of Denton, Tx; brother-in-law Harold Crouch and wife Jean of Elmer, OK.; a sister-in-law Nedra Mitchell and her husband Basil of Hereford, Tx.; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and many friends. The family will greet visitors Wednesday evening, July 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Kincannon Memorial chapel.

Roy James Lucas

        Roy James Lucas, 90, Elmer, long time area farmer, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow services at the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

         Roy was born on August 7, 1917, in Wade, Oklahoma to Thomas Leonard and Lula Hale (Adams) Lucas.    He married Elizabeth, “Bessie” Holder on October 30, 1937.  He married Mary Jo, “Jody” Jones on February 28, 2004.

         He attended school at Eldorado, Oklahoma. He farmed wheat, milo, cotton, and ran cattle.  He was in the custom combine business for several years making his way from the Texas panhandle to Nebraska. Work was his hobby. Roy is a member of Southside Baptist Church.

         He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, “Bessie”, Lucas in 2000; he was preceded in death by wife, Jody Lucas, in 2006; his parents, a daughter, Roylyn in 1997, and one sister.

         He is survived by one son, Jerry Lucas, and his wife, Eva Letha, of Elmer; and one son-in-law, Guy Tyra and wife, Laura, of Hudson Oaks, Tx.; five grandchildren, Timmy Tyra and wife, Jennifer, of Covington, Tx.; Tammy Haggard, and husband, Tim of Hudson Oaks, Tx.; Lisa and husband, Matt Coppock, of Elmer, Lori Sisson and husband, Carl, of Jacksonville, Fl.; and Greg Lucas of Elmer; ten great-grandchildren, Evan Coppock of Elmer; Blake Sisson and Lauren Sisson of Jacksonville, Fl; Dustin Lucas, Dylan Lucas, and Darren Lucas of Elmer; Cody Tyra, Ethan Tyra, Rachel Tyra, and Justin Tyra of Covington, Tx.; four step-children, Barbara Belshe of Irving, Tx; Janet Fowler and husband, Jerry, of Poulan, Ga.; Floyd Crouch and wife, Lois, of Denver, Co.; and Stephen Crouch and wife, Lorrie, of Pt.  Anthony Jacob Luera

        Anthony Jacob Luera, infant son of Kayla Hartford and Matias Luera of Altus, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born on January 29, 2005 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Dugan officiating.
