Opal O’Bannon

        Opal O’Bannon, 94, of Eldorado, passed away April 23, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.  Services will be held, 2:00 pm, Saturday April 26, 2008 at the Eldorado Church of Christ.  Interment will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

         Opal Elmina Hughes was born October 10, 1913 to Henry R. and Doska (Tackett) Hughes.  She graduated from Lincoln School northwest of Eldorado.  She married Willie K. O’Bannon November 10, 1937 in Hollis, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in 1971.  Opal was a homemaker.  She loved reading; crewel rug making; yardwork and gardening.  She a member of the Eldorado Church of Christ.

         Opal is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one brother, Andrew Hughes; a sister, Willie Mae Copeland and an infant sister Bessie.

        She is survived by two daughters; Ruth Bennett of Eldorado, OK and Mary Stidham and her husband Paul of Quanah, Texas; one son, William O’Bannon and his wife Patti of Eldorado, OK; two brothers, Russell Hughes and his wife Opal of Dumas, Texas; H.R. Hughes and his wife Della of OKC, OK; two sisters, Ruby Davidson and her husband Emory of Vinson, OK; Dorothy Alexander of OKC, OK; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ismael Vasquez Ortiz

        Ismael Vasquez Ortiz, 21, Eldorado, died Sunday, July 17, 2005 as a result of a vehicle accident west of Olustee. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at the Corinth Baptist Church Northwest of Eldorado with Rev. Mark Farr officiating. Burial will follow services at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.         He was born on June 18, 1984 in Agua Fria, Mexico to Onecimo and Maria Victoria (Ortiz) Vasquez. He attended grade school in Mexico. His family moved to Eldorado in 1995 where he graduated from high school in 2004. He was a machine operator at Bar S Foods in Altus and a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing basketball, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends.

        He was preceded in death by his father Onecimo Vasquez and both grandfathers. He is survived by his mother Maria Victoria Ortiz and his step-father Roque Gonzalez of Eldorado; one sister, Esther Vasquez of Eldorado; three brothers, Onecimo Vasquez, Rocky Gonzalez and Eric Babb all of Eldorado; two uncles Reynaldo and Seratin Vasquez, both of Altus; an aunt Martha Santander of Mexico; grandmothers Guadalupe Navarro and Maria de Jusus Jaimes, both of Mexico; several cousins who are very close like brothers and sisters and many friends.

Josefina V. Ortiz

        Josefina V. Ortiz, 62, of Altus, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008 at home after losing her battle with lung cancer.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home with Fr. Sundar officiating.  Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.

        Mrs. Ortiz was born July 30, 1945 to Francisco and Amalia (Garcia) Vasquez in Paso De Guayabal, Mexico. She married Paulino Ortiz on February 5, 1964 in Bejucos, Mexico.  She came to the United States in 1971 with her husband.  She was a homemaker who loved cooking for her family.  She also enjoyed fishing, sewing, and gardening.  Mrs. Ortiz was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

        She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosalba Ortiz and two brothers, Silvano Vasquez and Camilo Vasquez.

        Mrs. Ortiz is survived by her husband of the home; two daughters, Hilda Ortiz-Cobos and husband, Marcelino, of Altus; Nancy Ortiz and husband Raunel Baltazar of Altus; one son, Roberto Ortiz and wife, Argelia, of Altus; three sisters, Hermenegilda Vasquez, Julia Vasquez, and Catarina Benitez; six grandchildren, Aidan Cobos, Kaitlyn Cobos, Marcelino Cobos, Jr., Paulino Ortiz II, Trinidad Baltazar, and Brayden Baltazar and many other close family members and friends.

        Vigil will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Larry R. Osborne  

     Larry R. Osborne, 61, Tipton, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne and Mike Suiter officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     Larry was born on February 17, 1947 in Altus, Oklahoma to Howard and Ouida Jho (Leonard) Osborne. He was in the Olustee High School graduating class of 1965. He continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and attained Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science Degrees.

     He married Carolyn Kirby on June 17, 1967 in Eldorado, Oklahoma. Larry began teaching at Olustee School in Olustee, Oklahoma in 1971. He spent the next seven years teaching at Eugene Field Elementary School in Altus, Oklahoma. He moved to Washington, Oklahoma in 1978 and served briefly as the Washington High School Principal. He enjoyed a 20 year career as School Superintendent beginning at Dill City, Oklahoma; then Merritt, Oklahoma and eleven years at Tipton, Oklahoma before retiring in 1999. Since retirement Larry has enjoyed working with Tim Drury as well as his son Chad in Osborne Enterprises.

     Larry was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Lloyd Kirby and mother-in-law Bea Kirby.

     He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Tipton, OK; son Chad Osborne and wife Jessica of Altus, OK; daughter Amy Ferris and husband Bryant of Tipton, OK; three grandsons Cody Osborne, Cole Osborne and Jacob Ferris; several nieces, nephews and many life long friends.

Gladys Inez Osterhout

        Gladys Inez Osterhout, 93, of Altus , passed away  Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Grace Nursing Center in Mangum.  Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Beggs Cemetery, Beggs, Oklahoma with Ila Osterhout officiating.  Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

         Gladys was born April 23, 1914 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Anderson and Ethel (McGlasson) Nimmo.  She moved to Okmulgee County, Oklahoma and attended school there. In 1929, Gladys married Emery Glen Osterhout at Beggs, Oklahoma.  To this union, four children were born. She was a member of the First Church of God in Bristow, OK. She was a homemaker, an accomplished seamstress, and sewed for the public for many years.

          She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emery Glen Osterhout in 1959; two sons, Charles G. Osterhout and Orlin Wayne Osterhout; one son-in-law, Ken Dugan and one daughter-in-law, Julia Osterhout; three brothers, Leonard Nimmo, George Nimmo, Lehman Nimmo; and one sister, Juanita Audeur.

           Gladys is survived by a daughter, Patricia Dugan of Coweta, Oklahoma and a son, Ronald D. Osterhout and wife Lynn of Altus, Oklahoma; two daughter-in-laws, Ila Osterhout of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Nancy Osterhout of Wichita, Kansas; three brothers, Tom Nimmo, Artie Nimmo, Gene Nimmo; three sisters, Margaret Wilson, Anna Vicklund, and Betty Montanez all of California; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Titus E. Owen

        Titus E. Owen, 78, Snyder, died Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Flowers officiating. Burial will follow services at the Rogers Cemetery in Tillman County under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

        He was born on February 15, 1928 in Shelby, South Carolina to Fred K. and Effie C. (William) Owen. He attended school in Shelby, South Carolina. He entered the United States Air Force in 1945 and retired in 1976 after 31 years of service as a Chief Master Sergeant at Altus Air Force Base. He worked for Jim Click Chevrolet in downtown Altus as service manager for several years and later worked for Spears Chevrolet in Snyder, Oklahoma also as service manager. He was secretary / manager of the Altus Elks Golf and Country Club for many years until his recent retirement due to illness. He was past President of the Tri-State Senior Golf Association in Pampa, Texas.  He enjoyed traveling and playing golf with his friends. He especially enjoyed the company of his life partner of many years Arleta Jones of Snyder, Oklahoma.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons J R and Roger Owen; a sister, Doris Wright; two brothers, Herbert and Fred Jr. Owen;  and a brother-in-law, Harvey Adler. He is survived by his life partner Arleta of Snyder, Ok; two sons Wayne Sparks and wife Debbie of Oklahoma City, Ok; Bill Sparks and wife Judy of Blanchard, Ok; two brothers, Bill Owen and wife Sidney of High Point, N.C.; David Owen of San Antonio, Tx; four sisters-in-law, Wanda Kellett and husband Myrl of Lawton, Ok; Sue Camp and husband Clayton of Arlington, Tx; Sylvia Adler of Indiahoma, Ok; Arlena Thompson and husband Jerry of Rockford, Ill; one brother-in-law Jeff Walker and wife Beth of Clarendon, Tx; four grandchildren Hunter, Chase, Emilee and Blake Sparks and many friends.
