LaMoine M. Sager

LaMoine M. Sager, Altus, passed away Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joe Arledge officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

LaMoine Marvin Sager was born in Bellefonte, PA to Gilbert and Annabelle (Stere) Sager.  He joined the United States Air Force, serving his country proudly in the Vietnam War before retiring at the rank of MSGT in 1978.  He married Theresa Brosky and to this union, four children were born.  He later managed the Altus City Pool until his retirement.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf.  He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Beverly Hendershot. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, of the home; three daughters Debora Mrstik and husband David of Rosamond, CA, Coleen Alexander and husband Clark of Prattville, AL, Lezlie Parker and husband  Scott of Castlerock, CO; one son Shawn Sager and wife Wendy of Hess, OK; six grandchildren, Kyle Alexander, Kasey Alexander, Brandon Parker, Lindsay Parker, Kaylyn Sager, and Kallie Sager.

Rosella "Pete" Saker

              Rosella “Pete” Saker, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Clinton VA Hospital.  Services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jude officiating.  Interment will follow with full military honors at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     Rosella Peter Saker was born March 10, 1923 in Goshen, New York to Burtros R. and Alba (Peter) Saker.  He attended and graduated from school in New York.  He married Loretta Grace Denina in 1942 at New Orleans, Louisiana.  He also joined the United States Air Force in July of that same year.  He remained in the military until his retirement as a Chief Master Seargent in November of 1976. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He founded the Jesus, Mary and Joseph Aesthetic Society which was blessed by Pope John 23. He loved to pray, read, paint, draw, do metal work, and carve wood.

     Pete is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Sherlock, and Anna Saker; one brother-in-law, Arthur Sherlock.

     He is survived by five daughters; Dorothy Maram and husband Bob of Schaumburg, IL; Anna Deschino and husband Bob of Highland Ranch, CO; Cabrini Nolls and husband Jerry of Cheyenne, WY; Mary Cox of Northport, FL; and Bernadette Howell and husband David of Altus, OK; seven sons, Richard Saker of Aurora, CO, Peter Saker and wife Linda of Lihue, HI, David Saker of Houston, TX, Russ Saker of Wichita, KS, Joseph Saker of Lakewood, WA, Louie Saker of Sarasota, FL, and Michael Saker of Wichita, KS; twenty seven grandchildren, David Maram, Elizabeth Maram, Peter Saker, Richelle Saker, Salvatore Deschino, Stephanie Morris, Antonette Leflar, Michel Deschino, Tina Ahlbreght, Amy, Paul, Matthew, Christopher, and Joseph Saker, Anthony Nolls, Araina Veneshell, Shawn Estell, Shannon Garcia, Shane Estell, Christina Slocum, Jason Cox, Tiffany Cox, Jissica Cox, Mica Saker, Brandon, Kala and Kirk Luebking; seventeen great grandchildren, Michael, Christian, Austin, Ryan, Owen, Claire Marie, Mariah, Salvatore, Madison, Mason, Max, Jesse, Dilan, Alec, Madi, Aspen, Cloe and many friends.

Raymond Salomon, Sr.

    Raymond Salomon, Sr., Altus, died Thursday, December 28, 2006. Graveside services, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Altus Restlawn Cemetery with Frank Maldonado officiating.

     He was born on August 25, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Sabas and Paula (Lopez) Salomon. He attended school in Altus. He married Maria Perez on November 22, 1965 in Frederick, Oklahoma. He had worked at the Martha Gin for several years. He was a member of the Fountain of Salvation Pentecostal Church. His hobbies included drawing, painting, craftwork, woodwork, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.

    He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, David, Cruz and Juan Salomon. He is survived by his mother, Paula Salomon; four daughters, Marie, Rebecca and Debbie Salomon, all of San Antonio, Texas and Crystal Salomon of Martha, Ok; three sons, Raymond Salomon, Jr. and wife Rita of Altus; Gilbert P. Salomon of San Antonio, Tx; Reynaldo Cruz Salomon of Martha, Ok; five sisters, Gloria Maldonado and husband Tony of Altus; Eloidia Revilla and Juanita Revilla of Altus; Eloisa Revilla and husband Isaias of Blair; Adelina Ybarra and husband Luis of Duke; three brothers, Victor Salomon and wife Francis of Martha; Joe Salomon of Altus; Paul Salomon and wife Rosalinda of Altus; sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many friends.

Elsa Shears Sanchez

Elsa Shears Sanchez, 46, Wellington, TX and formerly of Altus, OK, died Tuesday May 23, 2006 in Amarillo, TX.  Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Altus City Cemetery with Brother Robert Forks officiating.  Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Elsa Shears was born October 28, 1959 in Toledo, OH to Joe and Carolina (Corona) Shears.  She attended Altus Public Schools.  She married Luis Sanchez in Vernon, TX.  Elsa worked as homemaker and especially enjoyed story telling and spending time with her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed traveling.  She was of the Catholic faith.  

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Carolina and a brother, Ruben. She is survived by her husband Luis; her mother, Carolina; one daughter, Roberta Alcorta of Lawton, OK; two sons, Albert Alcorta of Lawton, OK and Ramon Herrera III of Wellington, TX; three sisters, Janie Raper and husband David of Red Oak, TX, Julie Hill and husband Richard of Frederick, OK and Virginia White of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers, Gasper Shears and wife Philadelphia of Altus, OK and Joe Shears III of Altus, OK; four grandchildren, Jewel, Cameron, Angelica and Donnie III and a host of friends. Kadence Marie Sanders

    Kadence Marie Sanders passed away July 13, 2007 at her home in New Braunfels, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the First Nazarene Church in Eldorado with Reverend Bob Maine officiating.      Kadence was born in Altus on May 20, 2005 to Adam Lynn Sanders and Brittany Marie Weldon.

     She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Vinita Sanders; a great aunt, Mary Guthrie, and a great aunt and uncle, Arnold and Dora Sanders. Frances C. Scarbrough

        Frances C. Scarbrough, 93, Altus, OK, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.   Private family graveside services were held yesterday, January 11, 2006 at the Victory Cemetery.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Frances C. Scarbrough was born November 15, 1912 in Victory, OK to Luther and Lela (Rigsby) Neeley.  She graduated from Victory High School in 1930. She married Odell Knox in 1938.  To this union, two children were born.  He would precede her in death in 1942.  She married Archie Scarbrough in 1944.  He would precede her in death in 1967.  Frances worked as a sales clerk for the J.C. Penney Co. for more than forty years.  She loved her work.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, her family and especially her great grandchildren.  She was of the Methodist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; her daughter, Elizabeth; her son, Jerry Knox; two sisters, Marcella and Evelyn and two stepsons, Don and Bob Scarbrough. Nancy Myrtle Schippnick

        Nancy Myrtle Schippnick, 78, Altus, OK passed away Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 29, 1927 in Buffalo, NY to Clarence Edward and Myrtle (Brown) Spencer.  She married Ernest Schippnick on August 2, 1947 in Tonawanda, NY.  To this union, three children were born.  Nancy worked tirelessly as a homemaker.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth Anne Scoggin

Ruth Anne Scoggin, 60, Altus, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the home of her caretaker, Bobby Laws, Surrounded by family and friends. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bobby Laws officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Ruth Anne was born on August 24, 1948 in Altus, Oklahoma to Claude E. and LaVerne (Alexander) Scoggin. She attended Lincoln School, Central Jr. High, and graduated from Altus High School in 1966. She attained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sociology and Psychology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Her postgraduate studies included Minneapolis Metropolitan University and the University of Minnesota. Ruth had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Korea. She was a counselor and social worker in Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota for several years. She was a member of the Altus Church of God. She enjoyed church work, volunteer work, senior citizens, pets, and pet care.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Claude Scoggin.

She is survived by her mother, LaVerne Scoggin, of Altus; two sisters, Beverly A Lemon of Altus; Claudette Bowen and husband Alexander of Altus; brother Donald R. Zakhariye` R. Shaw

    Zakhariye` R. Shaw, 21 day old infant son of Sharetta Mitchell and Roger Shaw, III of Altus, passed away Tuesday morning, October 23, 2007 in Oklahoma City at the OU Medical Children’s Hospital.  Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007 with Pastor D Jones officiating at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. 

    Zakhariye` was born October 2, 2007 in Altus, Oklahoma to Sharetta Mitchell and Roger Shaw, III. He is preceded in death by his great grandmother Iomia Durrough and his great grandfather Ernest Thomas. He is survived by one brother Carmello Cotton; one stepsister Precious Shaw; two aunts Misty Fields and Macsy Franklin; five uncles Joseph Durrough; Jarrod Fields; Roger Shaw II; Rodney Fields; Justin Mitchell; four great aunts Barbara Durrough; Glenda Clark; Deborah Anderson; Theda Johnson; three grandmothers, Paula Mitchell, Michelle Harris and Paris Shaw and husband Roger Shaw, Sr.; two great grandmothers Riveria Hill and Gladys Shaw and several others aunts, uncles and cousins.

Judy Sherman

    Judy Sherman, 64, of Altus, passed from this life into God’s loving arms Tuesday, October 24, at 8:40 a.m. at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, after fighting with all her strength to survive lung cancer.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Olustee First Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.  

    Judy  Sherman was born November 27, 1941 to Homer Russel and Ruby (Witt) Wolfe in Altus, OK. She attended school in Altus, and graduated from Altus High School in 1960. She only missed one day of school and she was very proud of that.  She attended business school in Wichita Falls, TX.  She met the love of her life, Barry Sherman, while he was stationed here at Altus AFB.  They married in January of 1964 in Altus, OK and enjoyed 25 years of marriage.  They traveled with the military for 20 years before settling in Florida where they purchased their retirement home and 10 acres. They started a nursery on the acreage because she loved plants, flowers and trees. She was a devoted wife to Barry until his death in 1989.  She moved to Altus to be near her mother and family. Judy dedicated the remainder of her life to caring for her mother.  She was a very special daughter,  sister and aunt.  

     Judy set a good example for her family and will be greatly missed. Judy was a member of the Olustee First Baptist Church and was looking forward to getting well so she could share how God was working in her life.  She loved to quilt and had completed two quilts from scratch.  She loved her two dogs, Sassay and Toby, and treated them as her children.  She was the most gentle and loving soul, whom her family will think of with love always. 

     She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Russell Wolfe; her husband, Barry Sherman; two brothers, Homer and Jerrel Wolfe; and one sister, Pam Cox.  She is survived by her loving mother Ruby Perry; her sister Kay Winningham and husband Tom of Olustee; her brother Charles Wolfe and wife Sue of Muncie, Indiana; sister Brenda Sawin and husband Tom of Altus; brother Clifford Wolfe and wife Susan of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; sister Gayle Eiler and husband George of Olustee and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved.

Kenneth Wayne Shettlesworth 

    Kenneth W. Shettlesworth, 71, of Altus died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Tamaha Cemetery in Tamaha, Oklahoma under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.  

    Mr. Shettlesworth was born November 29, 1935, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to McKinley and Adie (Henry) Shettlesworth. He attended schools in the Pauls Valley area and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduation from high school. He served his country proudly from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1957. At the time of his death he was a civilian employee at the Altus Air Force Base, in the 97th Services Squadron. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors in general, and he loved to play his guitar. Mostly, he enjoyed very much spending time with his friends and family.  

    He is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by one sister, Macklean Gates of Inola, Oklahoma; one brother, Roy Shettlesworth and wife Florence, of Spiro, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Online tributes can be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.come

                            Charles L Shirley 

Charles L. Shirley, 74, Altus, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at English Village Manor. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home. Charles Leo Shirley was born June 28, 1934 in Lincoln, Kansas to Thomas B. and Alice T. (O’Neill) Shirley. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Kansas, in 1952. He continued his education at colleges in Kansas, Arizona and Altus, Oklahoma. He entered the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam, where he was stationed at Da Nang. Charles married Rose S. Stiles on September 15, 1966 at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1974. After retirement he worked for Coca-Cola of Altus, and Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base. He called Bingo at the local V.F.W. for many years where he was a lifetime member. He served as Post Commander 1998-1999, Post 4876, Altus, along with many other offices locally and statewide. Until recently he resided at the Lawton Veterans Center. He enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, bowling and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Rose. He is survived by his daughter Mary Osborn and husband Keith of Blair, Ok; his son Steve Bowker and wife Jane of Columbia Crossroads, Pa; a sister Margaret Smith and husband Hal of San Diego, Ca; two brothers, Bill Shirley and wife Sheila of Lincoln, Ks; Jerry Shirley and wife Sandy of Kanopolis, Ks; two granddaughters, Shaundra Covey and husband Scott of Altus, Ok; Megan Palmer of Columbia Crossroads, Pa; great grandson Kaleb Covey of Altus and several nieces and nephews; also Renee, Cathy, Tommy & Teresa, and their families. Clariece Lingle Simmons

Clariece Lingle Simmons, 80, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the First Baptist Church with John Lingle officiating.

     She was born on August 6, 1926 in Friendship, Oklahoma to David C. and Ethel (Dotson) Tabb. She graduated from Friendship High School in 1944. She married Ross Lingle on January 19, 1946 in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in October of 2002.  She married George Simmons on August 6, 2005 in Blair, Oklahoma. She was involved in the greyhound industry for over 50 years. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, traveling, dancing, sports, but most of all, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dotson Tabb, and her husband Ross Lingle.

     She is survived by three sons, David L. Lingle and wife Billie of Kingsland, Tx; John L. Lingle and wife Leslie of Altus, Ok; Joey R. Marie L. Stillwell Siebert

        Marie L. Stillwell Siebert, 95, Altus, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Bethel Church in Mobile, Georgia with the Rev. Ernest German and Dr. Jackie D. Johns officiating. Burial will follow services at the Bethel Church Cemetery under the direction of Akins Funeral Home in Blueridge, Ga. Arrangements in Altus, Oklahoma were handled by Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on May 18, 1911 in Isabella, Tennessee to Bert and Pearl (Earp) Standridge.  She graduated high school in Isabella, TN.  She married Wayne Stillwell in 1928. To this union, four sons were born.  Mr. Stillwell preceded her in death on April 17, 1941. She began working at the Post Office in Copperhill, TN before moving to Chicago where she worked as a Department Manager for Goldblatz Department Store. She then worked at Sinclair Oil Company in Chicago as head of the accounting department. She was also head of accounting for Blue Island Bank in Chicago before she retired in 1963. She married Henry Siebert in November of 1962. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was President of the Methodist Women's Missionary Society in Golden Gate, Florida; the Eastern Star and the American Business Women's Association. She enjoyed playing piano, singing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Wayne Stillwell and Henry Siebert; three brothers, Ty, J.B. and Lake Standridge and a sister Helen Helton. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Dot Stillwell of Shelbyville, Ten; Jerry and Norma Stillwell of Temple, TX; Lamar Stillwell of Cleveland, Ten, Charles and Sue Stillwell of Altus, Ok; two step sons and daughters-in-law; Rick and Lucy Siebert of Atlanta, Ga; Ralph and Judy Siebert of also of Atlanta, Ga; a sister Monty Helton of McCaysville, Ga; a brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Lena Standridge of Dallas, TX; thirteen grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Online tributes may be made @ www.kincannonfuneralhome.com

Toni L. Sims-Hibbard

        Toni L. Sims-Hibbard, 59, Altus, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.  Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Toni was born February 28, 1947 to M.G. and Bobbie Treadway Sims at Hollis, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Hollis High School and continued her education at Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate.  Her postgraduate work included a master’s degree in Library Sciences and Social Work from the University of Oklahoma.  Toni married Maurice Hibbard on October 5, 1979 in Altus, OK.  In 1982, Toni received a fellowship in counseling from the University of Oklahoma and became a Licensed Social Worker in 1983.  She worked for the Department of Human Services in Harmon, Jackson, and Oklahoma counties.  She was also employed as a counselor in San Jose, California and Manchester, Kentucky.  Toni’s compassionate heart and sweet spirit were demonstrated though her work as a counselor for the Taliaferro Center and Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.  

Toni loved her family, friends, church, books and her dogs and cats.  Her life long love of music was evident in the way she shared her beautiful voice.  Toni touched many lives with her kind words, gentle touch and comforting presence.  She had a gift of bringing out the best in those who were fortunate enough to know her.  

Toni is preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil and Kola Treadway and Morgan and Ida Sims and her father, M.G. Sims. She is survived by her husband, Maurice B. Hibbard of the home; her mother, Bobbie Sims of Hollis; one brother, Randy Sims and wife Lisa of Pauls Valley; one sister, Robbie Holder and husband Danny of Gould; four stepchildren, Brent Hibbard and wife Thurese of Folsom, California, Laura Hibbard of North Bend, Oregon, Kirby Hibbard and wife Terre of Lindsey, OK and Robert Hibbard and wife Robin of Oklahoma City, OK; seven step grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Toni is also survived by her aunt, Dot Dyess of Amarillo, TX;  nephews, Will and Tanner Sims of Stillwater, OK; niece, Danna Robinson and husband Mark and one great niece all of Hollis. Aubrey Earlene Smith

    Aubrey Earlene Smith, 84, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2007 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow services at the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     She was born on April 10, 1923 in Anna, Texas to Earl and Ethel N. (Watson) Prestridge. She attended Ozark School. She married Roy Goan on April 18, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1958. She was a beautician who owned and operated her own business from 1959 to 1964. She married Cecil Smith on June 15, 1964. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1982. She was a long-time member of the Humphries Baptist Church. She enjoyed flea markets and spending time with her family. She was particularly known for sending birthday cards to each family member on each birthday.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Goan; husband, Cecil Smith; infant son, Larry Dean Goan; granddaughter, Terasa Phelps; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Suzie Prestridge.

Michael P. Smith      

Michael P. Smith, 65, Cedar Rapids, IA, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA following a short illness.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Michael was born October 31, 1939 in Riceville, IA, the son of William and Ella (White) Smith.  He served as an Airman First Class with the United States Air Force from 1960-1964.  On April 20, 1964, Michael was united in marriage to Shirley Holt.  She died February 20, 1981.  Michael worked for Scooters, The Tree and the Officer’s Club at Altus Air Force Base as a maintenance supervisor.  He loved auto racing, including going to NASCAR events and races at Hawkeye Downs.

His parents; his wife Shirley; three brothers, Billy, Jerry and Ed Smith; and a sister, Mary Alice Buttolph, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann McGee and husband Ian of Altus, OK; sister, Margaret Fox of Riceville, IA; a brother, James Smith and wife Connie of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Tiffany and Justin Scalf; his companion, Sandy Crawley of Cedar Rapids, IA, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Velma Jo Smith

        Velma Jo Smith, 86, longtime resident of Olustee and Altus, passed away Wednesday January 12, 2005 at the Gardens of  McGregor Nursing Home in E. Cleveland, OH.  Graveside funeral rites are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Olustee Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating.  Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Velma was born September 8, 1918 in Olustee, OK to Carl and Ola Mae (Watson) Willeford.  She attended Olustee schools.  She left school at a young age to care for her ailing mother and four younger siblings.  She married Ernest Harold Smith and had one daughter.  Velma worked in sales  at the Jeep Army Store, the Watkins Department Store and at The Fabric Shop, owned by Watkins Department Store.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a member of the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ in Altus.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Harold Smith;  her parents;  two sisters, Lorene Simmons and Martha Marie Watson and a brother, Ernest Willeford.

    She is survived by her daughter, Jan Hunt and husband Richard of Shaker Heights, OH;  her granddaughter, Paige Hunt Gialanella of Charlotte, NC;  her sister Adelia Hughes of Olustee, OK and two brothers, Edward Willeford of Altus, OK and C.E. Willeford of Amarillo, TX. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Edith Faye (Lemaster) Snyder

    Edith Faye Snyder, 73, passed away Tuesday, October 14 at Plantation Village Nursing Home.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 18 at the Kincannon Funeral Chapel. 

    Edith Faye Lemaster was born March 1, 1935 to Sebert and Nellie (Dubois) Lemaster at Navajo, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Friendship High School in 1953.  She married Aubrey Snyder Sr. in 1955 at Altus, Oklahoma.  She was a self employed house cleaner, provided foster care for DHS, as well as being a homemaker and a full time Momma. She was a member of the First Assembly Of God Church where she taught Bible School for Jr. girls.  She collected recipes and loved to cook, she was also a noted cat lover. 

    Edith is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Mike Snyder; two sisters, Laurel Perkins and Betty Thompson; her twin brother, Keith Lemaster; older brother Lonnie Lemaster, and one nephew Stephen Thompson.

Michael Snyder

    Michael Snyder, 43, Altus, passed away at Plantation Village, Sunday, July 22.  Funeral services for Mr. Snyder will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, July 27, with Gary Cummins officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. 

    Michael Keith Snyder was born in July 20, 1964 in Altus, Oklahoma to Aubrey and Edith Snyder.  He attended the Navajo school, he received his GED, and later attended and graduated from CNA classes at the VoTech.  He was a CNA at English Village and Park Lane Manor.  Michael served his country in the US Navy from 1985 to 1988.  His interests were horror films, westerns, listening to Jimmy Buffet music, and raising pit bulls.  

    He is preceded in death by his father Aubrey Snyder in 1981, grandparents, Sebert and Nellie Lemaster, and Mr. and Mrs. Snyder.  He is survived by his mother, Edith Snyder, brother, Mark Snyder of Altus, OK; uncle, Ellis Lemaster and his wife Louise of Navajo, OK; aunt, Laurel Perkins, of Artesia, NM; and several cousins.

Paulita Solomon

Paulita Solomon, 83, of Altus, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007, at Plantation Village Nursing Home. She was born on January 15, 1924, at Orange Grove, Texas, to Cruz and Georgia Lopez. She was married to Sabas Solomon for sixty six years, and to this union twelve children were born. She loved sewing, cooking, doll collecting, gardening and going to church.  She was of the  Pentecostal faith. 

     She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three sons, Cruz, Raymond, and David and one infant son, Juan Solomon, brothers; Cruz Lopez, and Lolo Lopez, sisters; Claira Canales, Georgia Garza, Ceclia Villarreal and Anita Cavasols. 

     Paulita is survived by five daughters; Juanita Revilla,of Altus, OK, Eloisa Revilla, and her husband, Isaias of Blair, OK, Gloria Maldonado and her husband Tony, and Elodia Torres and her husband Felipe all of Altus, Adelina Ybarra and her husband Luis of Duke, OK, three sons, Victor Solomon and his wife Frances of Martha, OK, Paul Solomon and his wife Rosalinda of Altus, OK and Joe Solomon and his fiancé Mary Guzman of Altus, OK, four brothers; Beto Lopez and his wife Estiffany of Bayton, TX, Mike Lopez and his wife Eloisa of Corpus Christi, TX,  Polo Lopez and his wife Rosa of Orange Grove, TX and Lupe Lopez and his wife Maria of Evermound, TX, one sister, Elveita Alnese and her husband Tefilio, fifty nine grandchildren, one hundred twenty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a very dear friend, Maggie Flores.

Gerald Sonleiter          

    Gerald Sonleiter, 85, Altus, died Tuesday November 22, 2005 at the Grace Living Center in Altus.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 25, 2005 with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.  Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Gerald Sonleiter was born March 16, 1920 in St. Charles, MO to John and Lillie (Meise) Sonleiter.  He graduated high school in Cotton Valley, Louisiana and then joined the United States Air Force, serving his country proudly.  He married Kay Wilson in March of 1946.  To this union, two children were born.  He worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk until his retirement.  He later married Nadine McCracken on May 17, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved to fish.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church in Altus, OK.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Wilson Sonleiter; his parents; one sister; one brother in law and one step grandchild.

His wife Nadine, of the home; his daughter, Vicki Buck and husband William of Vernon, TX and his son, Rick Sonleiter and wife Marily of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; step daughter, Mazie Blair and husband Henry, Tucumcari, NM; four step grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren survives him. Lola E. Southhall      

Lola E. Southall, Blair, OK, passed away October 2, 2005.  She was 96 years of age.  She was born in Myra, Texas.  She was the daughter of Nathaniel and Martha Ida (Derryberry) Kuykendall.  She was resident of Blair, OK since the age of fourteen.  She married Wm. Peyton Southall, February 19, 1927.  They were blessed with seventy years and eleven months of marriage.  Eight children were born and reared by this loving couple.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peyton; her son Clifford Southall of Riley, TX; daughter, Carla Callahan of Altus, OK; two great grandchildren, Zack Hayes of Blair, OK and Faith Biddy of Ft. Cobb, OK; one son in law, Gene Hayes of Blair, OK and one daughter in law, Billie Southall of Dallas, TX.

She is survived by her children, Hazel Hayes, Stan Southall and wife Ann, Darla Brooks and husband Jerry, all of Blair, OK, Barbara Biddy and husband Donnie of Burns Flat, OK, June Billington and husband Jim and son in law Tom Callahan of Altus, OK; Mel Southall and wife Shirley of Dallas, TX; twenty five grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren; four sister in laws and one brother in law; a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends and family.

Kenneth L. Springer

    Kenneth L. Springer, 63, Eldorado, died Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Eldorado Church of Christ with Duane Springer and Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow services in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     He was born on November 7, 1942 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to William E. and Mary A. (Taylor) Springer. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1962 and had attended Lubbock Christian University. He married Sandra Weightman on January 8, 1966 in Kirkland, Texas. He farmed his land in Texas South of Hollis and had worked at American Gypsum from 1982 until his retirement in 2006. He was a long time member of the Eldorado Church of Christ where served as the song leader. He was a board member of the Eldorado Farmers Coop for several years. He enjoyed his farming and spending time with his grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife Sandra of the home in Eldorado; one daughter, Cynthia Reese and husband Johnny of Eldorado; three sons, Duane Springer and wife Adele of Bayard, New Mexico; Eric Springer of Eldorado; Bryan Springer and wife Carrie of Eldorado; five sisters, Norma Coker of Arlington, Tx; Laverne Merket of Burns Flat, Ok; Joyce Gist and husband Joe of Ft. Gibson, Ok; Dorothy Little and husband Jim of Boerne, Tx; Donna Springer of Hurst, Tx; three brothers, W. R. Springer and wife Connie of South Carolina; Wayne Springer of Longview, Tx; Melvin Springer and wife Betty of Alvarado, Tx; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brent and Michael Reese; Keith, Wyatt, Bre-Anne and Christopher Springer and many friends.

Rhedia Virginia Sprowl

    Rhedia Virginia Sprowl, 73, longtime Altus resident, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at English Village Manor in Altus. Graveside services, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home, will be 10:00 a.m.,  Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating.

     She was born on November 24, 1933 in Altus, Oklahoma to James and Leavie Eddie (Nolen) Davis. She attended Altus Public Schools.  She lived in North Carolina, Alaska and in Texas for many years before returning to Altus.  She was a cook for many ranches and restaurants. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved cooking, crocheting, and word puzzles. She spent a lifetime trying to reunite with her children.

     She was preceded in death by her father, James Davis; her mother, Leavie Eddie Newcomb; her step-father, Guy Newcomb and her sister, Monnie L. Burlingame. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Lorraine Jacobs; one son, John Paul Jacobs; one brother-in-law, George Burlingame, Jr.; one niece, Sandy Garland and husband George of Altus; six nephews, Dennis Burlingame, of Nebraska,  George Burlingame of Alaska, Clifford Burlingame of Alaska, Ralph Burlingame of Mississippi, Mark Burlingame of North Carolina and Roy Burlingame of North Carolina; cousins Linda and Grady Vann and family of Altus; Tommy Nolen of Bixby, Ok; Leon Nolan and family of Blair, Ok. and many other relatives and friends.

 Leona Steelman

        Leona Steelman, 89, Altus, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Plantation Village Nursing Home.         Leona was born at Connerville, Oklahoma on February 28, 1919 to Lon and Martha Lee (Carney) Bryant and is of Chickasaw  Indian decent.

        She married Herbert Hicks in 1939 at Tishmingo, Oklahoma. She married P.M. “Bud” Steelman in San Diego in 1955.  She attended school at the Bloomfield Indian School grades 9-12 in Ardmore, Ok.  She was of the Baptist faith.  When she was young, she loved playing basketball.  She loved playing bingo and she especially loved to talk and share time with people.  She also loved to dance and as a senior citizen attended many dances.   

        She was preceded in death by four brothers, James Bryant, Leon Bryant, Ed Bryant, and Kenneth Bryant; and three sisters, Elsie Avery, Sis Tolar and Mildred Bryant. 

        She is survived by two daughters, Pat Croft and husband, Wayne of Altus; Jan Dixon and husband, Joe of Phoenix, Az.; one son, Jimmy Hicks and wife, Dolly of Chula Vista, Ca.; one brother, Bill Bryant of Japan; two sisters, Josephine Rogers and husband, John of Oceanside, Ca.; Christine Sumner and husband, Steve of Talequah, Ok.; seven grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Kelli, Kenny, Karri, Kevin, Brett, and Ann Marie; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

James A. Stephens, Jr.

        James A. Stephens, Jr., 76, long time Altus resident died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at English Village Manor. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Al Davis officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on July 11, 1929 in Milburn, Oklahoma to James A. and Lillie Belle (Mackey) Stephens. He attended schools in Altus, Durant and Arnett, Oklahoma. He married Jo Ann Lovett on June 24, 1951 in Olustee, Oklahoma. He entered the United States Army in November of 1946, the United States Air Force in 1953 and retired as a Technical Sergeant in September of 1967. He served with the occupational forces in Japan, Korea and Vietnam. He owned and operated Stephens Texaco on East Broadway in Altus for several years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of Christ Way Christian Church in Altus. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was also a member of the F.F.A., the Boy Scouts of America and the Jackson County 4-H Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Anita Lynn; six brothers, Alvin, Paskell, Dee, Lee, Austeen and J.L. and one sister, Estelle. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of the home in Altus; one daughter, Jeri Neito of Oklahoma City, Ok; one son Jimmy Dee Stephens of Altus, Ok; two granddaughters, Zarah Beth Stephens of Rio Ranch, New Mexico; Anita Stephens of Altus, Ok; one grandson, Geffery Stephens of Oklahoma City, Ok; one great grandson, Grant Stephens of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and many friends.

Jewell Stone

        Jewell Stone, 70, of Apache, formerly of Altus, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008 at Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

        Jewell was born July 2, 1938 to Bud and Ellen Mae (Hathaway) Stone in Altus, Oklahoma.  Her family moved to California when she was a child.  In 1954, she married Joseph Davis in Los Angeles, CA.

        She worked for twenty years in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Ca.  She constructed prototypes of the space equipment, and built the first flight harness that was used on the first walk on the moon. She worked extensively on the Voyager Missions and equipment. She was one of the people to see the first pictures of Mars at JPL in California.  She was put in the book of Who’s Who. While working in the space program her name was Jewell O’Brien.  In 1978, she moved back to Altus with her mom where she lived until she moved to Apache in 2000 to be with her daughter.  While living in Altus, Jewell helped start and later became president of Caring Homes in Licensed Daycare (C.H.I.L.D.) association.  She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary.

        She was preceded in death by her parents.

        Jewell is survived by her daughter, Debra Lovejoy and husband Rick of Apache, OK; two grandsons, Jeremy Robbins and wife Beth of Apache, OK and Ricky Lovejoy of Altus, OK; four great-grandchildren, Lorayna Lovejoy, Eric Morrison, Dylan Robbins, and Evan Lovejoy.

        The family will host friends for visitation from 3:00pm to 5:00 pm Sunday afternoon at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Ima K. Story

Ima K. Story, 86, formerly of Eldorado, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, May 6, in Decatur, Texas.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the Eldorado Church of Christ with Bill Osborne and Tony Choat officiating. Burial will follow services in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

      She was born on August 3, 1920 to Hamp and Maudie Lee (Gatlin) Adams, in Willspoint, Texas.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in Harmon County, near Eldorado, in 1938. She met and married Calvin N. Story, on July 25, 1941, in Bethel, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker, raising five children. She worked outside the home in several positions at Fort Supply and Quanah Hospital. Her main interest was hairdressing in the Eldorado area. She enjoyed her hairdressing career for many years beginning in the early 60’s until she retired.  Ima was a member of the Eldorado Church of Christ.  She loved to read, sew, do embroidery work and garden. 

     Ima is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Calva Story and Mary Lou McGee; one son, Gary Story; two brothers, Truman and Jimmy Dale Adams.

   Ann Cagle Stucker

        Ann Cagle Stucker, 56, Altus, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Dr. Brent Isbell officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on October 26, 1948 in Olney, Texas to C. E. “Gene” and Juanita (Musgrave) Cagle. She graduated from Altus High School in 1967. She continued her education for two years of college following high school. She married Ronny C. Stucker on May 26, 1968 in Altus. She had owned her own beauty salon in Altus and later in Norman, OK.  She owned a retail maternity store in Norman, OK and then served as secretary for the Oklahoma Education Association in Ardmore, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. She was a member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ, enjoyed needlecraft, plants, gardening and spending time with her family and especially her granddaughter Jordan.

Her brother-in-law William T. Williams, III, preceded her in death. She is survived by her parents; her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Brent Isbell of Houston, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Chizuru Stucker of Japan; a sister, Eugena Williams of Altus; a brother and sister-in-law, James Clifton and Charlotte Cagle of Rowlett, Texas; a granddaughter Jordan Mei Isbell of Houston, Texas; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Billy Joe Surles, Sr.

    Billy Joe Surles, Sr., 74, Elmer, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Overstreet officiating. Burial will follow services in the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

     He was born on May 29, 1933 to J.D. and Ella (Bennett) Surles in Mesquite, Texas. He attended Altus Public Schools. He married Maxine Carter on August 15, 1969 in Vernon, Texas. He worked as a cowboy in Montana and Southwest Oklahoma most of his life. He was of the Baptist Faith, enjoyed fishing, cowboy work and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home in Elmer; four sons, Alvin Surles and wife Shera of Springtown, Tx; Billy Ray Surles and wife Lee of Duke, Ok; Billy Joe Surles, Jr. and partner Mary of Howe, Tx; Jessie Doc Surles of Gainesville, Tx; one daughter Beverly Dickerson and husband Claude of Altus; four sisters, Margaret Walls of Fruitvale, Tx; Nola Trussler of Altus; Jo Ann Walls and husband Jerry of Bass Harbor, Maine; Addie Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada; six brothers, Donnie Womack of Canton, Tx; John Surles and wife Alice of Oklahoma City, Ok; George Muddy Surles of Altus; Doc Surles and wife Lois of Dallas, Tx; Sam Surles and wife Barbara of Olustee, Ok; Ray Surles and wife Joyce of Altus; nine grandchildren, Justin, Damion, Colton, Chelby, Rebecca, Justina, Shirley and Jo Ann Surles, Amy Perhacs, Hazel Dickerson and many friends.

Lisa Carol Sutherland

        Lisa Carol Sutherland, 49, Altus, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Kincannon Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dick Chapman and Guy Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on May 6, 1955 to Glenn Robert and Joyce Lucille (Wright) Bostick in Richmond, Indiana. She graduated from high school in Fountain Valley, California. She was currently attending Western Oklahoma State College. She married Paul J. Sutherland on July 20, 1974 in Huntington Beach, California. She was a member of the Altus Christian Fellowship, the Republican Women's Organization, C.A.S.A. and Psi Beta. She enjoyed singing, gardening, bicycling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Paul of the home in Altus; her parents, Bob and Joyce Bostick of Altus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Corrie and Tom Livesay, Johnson City, Tn; Brenda and Tobias Valdez of Altus; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Ginni Sutherland of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a sister, Beth Sealey of Del Ray Beach, Florida; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Norma Bostick of Hammond, Indiana; Jeff and Susan Bostick of Dumfries, Virginia; six grandchildren and many friends.
