Derrill Killian, 85, Altus, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services have been scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Altus City Cemetery with John Lingle and Tony Pearce officiating. Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home.
Derrill Wayne Killian was born October 4, 1930 to LA and Edna (Mendenhall) Killian in Olustee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Olustee High School with the class of 1948. Derrill and Loretta Kenmore were united in marriage on August 13, 1950 in Olustee, Oklahoma. To this marriage two daughters were born. Derrill joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard, 45th Infantry Brigade, in 1950. His unit was deployed to the Korean War where Mr. Killian operated a tank. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Upon return to the states, Mr. Killian obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma A & M (OSU). He taught school at Carter, Blair, and Western Oklahoma State College for a total of fifty four years. Derrill started the Agriculture program at WOSC in 1972, and taught small engine repair and welding as well. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Light House Sunday School class. Derrill enjoyed working on lawn mowers and other small engines and spending time being with family.
Derrill is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Loretta, and his son-in-law Zack Morgan.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Judy Morgan and Tonya Worbes and husband, Fred, all of Altus, OK; grandson, Cole Morgan and wife, Amanda, of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughter, Melisa Parsons and husband, David, of Warren, OK; grandson, Roe Worbes and his wife, Johna, of Altus, OK; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Parsons and wife, Caitlyn, of Warren, OK, and Shelby, Brekyn and Bates Worbes, all of Altus, OK; one great-great grandson, Jayden Parsons; one brother-in-law, Billy Kenmore; nephew, Billy W. Kenmore of Altus, OK; four grand nieces, Ty Darby and husband, Drew, of Duke, OK, Shawn Porter and husband, Spencer, of Snyder, OK, Haley Kenmore of Oklahoma City, OK and Josey Kenmore of Mangum, OK.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Light House Sunday School class, or to the WOSC Foundation in his memory.
