Rumaldo E. "Steve" Marquez

Rumaldo E. "Steve" Marquez, 71, Altus, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Altus Christian Fellowship with Dick Chapman officiating. Cremation services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Rumaldo was born on May 27, 1944 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Rumaldo "Joe" and Delfina (Chavez) Marquez. After high school, he entered the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he served as a police officer for five years in New York City. He also worked as a salesman and supervisor for the Frito-Lay company for many years. He married Doreen R. Smith on May 22, 2004 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rumaldo was the type of guy who loved to talk and never met a stranger. He also enjoyed traveling and camping.

His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Doreen, of the home; four children, Tammy, Dawn, Kathy and Joe Michael; two stepsons, Paul and Shawn; eleven grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a sister, Bea "Sugar" Carlile; and many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
