S.R. "Tubby" Dillingham

November 21, 1918 — January 15, 2016

S. R. "Tubby" Dillingham, 97, Altus, passed away peacefully Friday, January 15, 2016 at English Village Manor. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, January 17 from 3-4 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.
Tubby was born November 21, 1918 in Blair, Oklahoma to C. A. and Emma (Russell) Dillingham. He graduated from Blair High School in 1937, where he played basketball for the Broncs, and continued his education at Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. He married Betty Jo Marlin March 25, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma. They made their home in Blair, Oklahoma where they raised their two daughters, Karen and Mary. Tubby was proud to have lived in Blair for most of his life. He farmed and ranched in Jackson County, near Blair, for over 70 years. He loved growing wheat and cotton, but his passion since a young age was riding horses. An avid sports fan, Tubby enjoyed watching the OKC Thunder with his wife, Betty. He was a long time member of the Blair First Baptist Church; a member of the Blair Riding Club and enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at the All American Cafe in Blair, usually twice a day - once in the morning and again in the afternoon.
Mr. Dillingham was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon Dillingham; sister, Christine Wallace; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Shelby and Eula Marlin.
He is survived by Betty, his wife of 71 years; their daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Fred Weaver of Altus; their daughter Mary Brooks of Palo Alto, CA; their grandson, Michael Weaver of Santa Monica, CA; and his sister, Helen Jo Stephenson and husband, Omer and many other family and friends.
Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
