Augusta Shotts Blackmon

February 13, 1930 — August 30, 2017

Augusta Shotts Blackmon, age 87, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at her home in Ozark, Missouri with her family at her side. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 PM Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel.
Augusta was born on February 13, 1930 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Albert R. and Ida M. Marteney. She grew up on a farm in the Tipton area along with her three(3) sisters. Augusta graduated from Snyder High School where she lettered in basketball. She met the love of her life, James Alton Shotts, when he came to her home to repair the telephone. She began to put bobby pins in the phone so that he would keep coming back. On July 14, 1950 they were married in the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Augusta was a wonderful mother to Donnie “Don”, Timothy “Tim” and Debra “Debbie”. Later, on March 27, 1992, she married A. Gordon “Blackie” Blackmon.
Augusta worked throughout her life for various companies, including Shotts Electric Company, Greer Downs Racetrack, Kellwood Company, Western Motor Freight, Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Petkoff Mobile Home Sales, Altus Surplus City, and retired from Oklahoma State Health Department.
Augusta was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Alton Shotts; second husband, A. Gordon “Blackie” Blackmon; a son, Tim Shotts; a stepson, Larry Blackmon; a sister, Leota Roark; brothers-in-law, Leo Roark, Glen Bryan, Gordon Treece, and Lloyd Conway; a son-in-law, Sonny Banister; and nephew, Steven Bryan.
She is survived by a son, Don Shotts and wife Trenna; daughter and best friend, Debbie Banister; stepdaughter, Linda Cartwright; grandchildren, Scott Shotts of Springfield, MO; Casey Shotts of Hollis, OK; Crystal Valles of Wellington, TX; Chad Shotts of Hollis, OK; Brandon Shotts of Cary, NC; Ashley Casses of Livermore, CA; and Gary Bannister of Flower Mound, TX; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Alberta Conway of Oklahoma City, OK, and Idabel Treece of Hilham, TN, and former daughter-in-law, Linda Shotts.
Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Days Inn to the South and Western Sizzlin' to the North.
