Berluvette Marrero

Berluvette J. “Berl” “BJ” Marrero, 65, Altus, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Saavedra officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Berluvette was born on October 5, 1955 to Edwin Roland Cornish and Martha Ellen (Graves) Cornish in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She attended Freedom High School in Bethlehem before receiving a certificate in carpentry at Manpower Trade School. After graduation she was employed by Manpower Trade School for a period of time. She met Jose Marrero in Pennsylvania while he was in the military. He was later stationed at Altus Air Force Base. Berluvette moved to Altus and married Jose in September of 1985 in Vernon, Texas.

Berluvette was a single parent most of her life. She worked as a CNA at English Village Manor, a cook at Quartz Mountain Health Care Center and at Val’s. She worked in private home care for many families around Altus

She always enjoyed social gatherings and was the life of the party. Berluvette was a great cook, enjoyed watching movies and loved animals. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She had a great love for God. Berluvette was an active member of The Door Church.

Berluvette is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Martha Cornish; brother, Joseph Cornish; uncle, Roland Graves; and aunt, Beatrice Smith. Survivors include her daughters LaDeanya French, Jenice Alexander Coppage and husband, Jihad; grandchildren Sha’Quille French, Sha’Quan French, Sha’Quayah French, Kya Fraizer and Jada Coppage; great-grandchildren Tristyn Vick-French and Layla Jae French; brother Cornelius French; sister Rollanda Lewis and husband, Aubrey; much loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; significant other, James Freeman; and a host of family and friends whom she loved dearly.
