Billy Gene "Bill" Medlock

Billy Gene “Bill” Medlock, 89, Altus, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 10, 2020 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Stefan Valdez officiating. Burial with Navy Honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Billy Gene Medlock was born on November 18, 1931 in Olustee, Oklahoma to W.L. “Bill” and Ida Minta (Powers) Medlock. He grew up in Olustee and graduated from Olustee High School. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1951 – 1955 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Following his service, Bill received his Bachelors Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He then completed his Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Bill taught school in Midwest City for six years before joining the Department of Rehabilitation Services. He worked there for 25 years as a counselor and supervisor before retiring. Bill then went to work as a social worker for the Vernon State hospital for another six years. He married Connie L. Cleveland in Wichita Falls, Texas on July 1, 1988. Bill was a member of the Martha Road Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting. His greatest treasures were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and their sports and activities. Bill was a remarkable role model and will be missed but never forgotten.
His parents, a great grandson, Matthew Allen, a brother, Herman, and two sisters, Lois and Pauline, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, of the home; three daughters, Deborah McAskill and husband, Mike, Stephanie Cleveland and Stacey Valdez and husband, Stefan; three sons, Billy G. Medlock, Jr., George Medlock and wife, Kandy, and Taylor Cleveland; 14 grandchildren, Carr McAskill (Donna), Jake McAskill (Katie), Phoenix McAskill (Marisa), Zachary Cleveland, Caitlin King, Madeline, Mason and Makenna Valdez, Olivia Post (Luke), Audrey Smith (Deron), Lara Medlock, Matt Medlock (Jenna), Mandy O’Neil (Justin), and Marcus Medlock (Jordan); 16 great grandchildren, Kendra, Bailey, Brayden, Bryson, Tisa, Sydney, Abree, Eden, Fischer, Sawyer, Thatcher, Jack, Lanie, Pearl, Gunner and Jema; and many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
