Chester L. Sharp

January 1, 1949 — February 2, 2017

Chester L. Sharp, 68, Altus, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017. Funeral services have
been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with
Reverend George Flowers officiating. Burial, with full military honors and Altus St. James
Masonic Rites, will follow services in the Altus City Cemetery Veterans Section under the
direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Chester Leondas Sharp was born January 1, 1949 to Chester and Betty (Dunn) Sharp in
Magnolia, Arkansas. He graduated from Columbia High School and attended two years at
Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. Chester and Juana Cruz were united in marriage on June 28,
1974 in Lawton, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born. He served his country as a
United States Marine during the Vietnam War. After he served his four years in the Marines he
transferred to the Army where he spent the next eighteen years as a Personnel Sergeant. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class from the United States Army in April of 1992 following a combined 21 years distinguished military service. He was a member of the Altus St. James Masonic Lodge # 229 and the St. Johns Baptist Church. Chester enjoyed fishing with his son in law Robert, who was also his partner in crime, and watching his grandsons play sports.

He is preceded in death by his biological father, Chester Sharp; father in his heart, Oliver W.
Rogers; grandmother, "Mama" Caroline Dunn; and a brother, Patrick Rogers.

Chester leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Juana, of the home; mother, Betty Rogers; one daughter, Monica Buxton and husband, Robert; one son, Michael Sharp and wife; Leigh; seven grandchildren, Alex Sharp, Arhi (Spoon) Rapoza, Makayla Sharp, Emilio Sharp, Joshua Buxton, Joseph Buxton and Jordan Buxton; four sisters, Ann Collins and husband, Donald; Barbara Dickerson; Sandra Long and husband, John; and Bobbie Jean Truss; four brothers, Glen Rogers, Gary Rogers, Jeffrey Sharp and Mark Sharp; and a host of extended family, church members, Masons, neighbors and friends.

A Willie A. Gallop Consistory #377 Kadosh service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday evening at
Kincannon Funeral Home.

Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Days Inn to the South and Western Sizzlin' to the North.
