Daniel L Phenix

Daniel L. Phenix, 75, Altus, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside committal of cremated remains, with military honors, will take place in the Altus City Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2020. Cremation and services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Daniel L. Phenix was born on September 11, 1945 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Jesse L. and Alma E. (Howell) Phenix. He grew up in Grand Junction and graduated high school in May of 1964. He enlisted into the United States Air Force and served for more than 20 years. Daniel was a veteran of the Vietnam War and worked primarily as Loadmaster while in the Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant on February 28, 1985. Daniel married Rosa M. (Shelton) on November 13, 1984 in Vernon, Texas. Once retired, he worked as a police officer in Snyder, Oklahoma for a short time. Daniel then went to work for the City of Altus Electrical Department as an electrical lineman. He retired from the City of Altus as a Line Crew Foreman.

Daniel was very involved and was a life member of the VFW #4826 since 1984, where he served as the Post Chaplain, Jr. Vice Commander and Sr. Vice Commander. He also worked with the Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen Department programs for many years.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa, of the home; a stepson, John H. Willsey and family; and many other family members and friends.
