Donald Bob Allen

Donald Bob Allen, 81, Altus, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2022 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Donald was born February 19, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma to Evert P. “Hogy” and Ruth (Britton) Allen. He graduated from Altus High School with the Class of 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Sonja Gay Wilson, September 4, 1959 in Altus and together they raised two children, Jim and Cindy. He worked most of his early adult life in electrical and safety with utility providers PSO and OG&E of Oklahoma. In 1975 he moved to Saudi Arabia, working for the Arabian American Oil Company helping to provide power to small outlying cities. He returned to Oklahoma in 1981 and continued his career while earning his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. He then began teaching safety for Municipal Electrical Systems of Oklahoma. He retired in 2004 and enjoyed learning, building, gardening, stained glass work, collecting guns, knives, clocks, coins and antique radios. Known as “DB”, or “Uncle Bob” to his many friends and family members, Donald was a constant source of friendship and support. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with family, and traveling. He was known for his passion for helping any and everyone. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sonja; four brothers, Glendon, Alvin, Grady and Alfred Allen; and his sister, Mildred Elder.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Don Allen and wife, Denise; his daughter, Cindy Gay Laurence and husband, Steve; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Daniel, Jessica and Elisabeth; four great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
