Donald Wayne “Donnie” Popchoke, 78, Altus, passed away, Friday, August 30, 2013 at Plantation Village Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ, with Tom Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Donnie was born February 8, 1935 in Altus, Oklahoma to Roy and Jewel (Rutledge) Popchoke. He attended Altus Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1953. Donnie and Morene Lollis were united in marriage on June 6, 1954 in Altus, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born. He worked as an Auto Parts Salesman working for John’s Auto Parts, until his retirement after 30 years. Donnie was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ for many years. He served as Church Treasurer, Deacon, and Bible Class Teacher. Donnie enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, cabinets and crafts; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, watching NFL football; and especially liked teaching Bible class. Donnie loved his Lord and his family above all else. He is preceded in death by his parents; and both sets of grandparents. Donnie is survived by his wife, Morene, of the home; daughter, Deby Green, and husband David, of Little Rock, AR; and son, Tommy Popchoke, of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Mildred Barnette of Tyler, TX, Beth Betts of Tyler, TX, half-sister, Judy Sumpter of Lubbock, TX and brother, Joe Popchoke and wife Grace, of Ralls, TX; four grandchildren, Dustin Green of Wautauga, TX, Brad Popchoke, and wife Suzie, of OKC, OK, Whitney Popchoke, of OKC,OK, and Austin Green of Euless; TX and five great grandchildren, Hunter Green of Euless, TX, Connor Popchoke, Rebecca Popchoke, Mia Popchoke and Gracie Popchoke all of OKC, OK. The Popchoke family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Kincannon Gathering Room.
