James L. Otten

James L. Otten, 86, Altus, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Altus City Cemetery. Inurnment will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

James L. Otten was born on August 1, 1934 to William and Loretta (Hayes) Otten in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in St. Louis and attended school there. James joined the United States Air Force on March 29, 1953. James met Shirley A. Hellman and they married on September 14, 1957 in St. Louis. After proudly serving his country for 21 years, James retired as a Technical Sergeant. He went onto work for Western Oklahoma State College, retiring as Campus Police Officer after 11 years. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a granddaughter, Stacy Otten Goodrich, six brothers, Valley, Elmer and Sonny Otten, Eugene, Ernie, and Robert ‘Bob’ Crocker, and two sisters, Irene Crocker and Loretta Schrader.

Survivors include his two daughters, Darlene Goodrich and Donna L. Nagy and husband, Jim; a son, James L. Otten, Jr. and wife, Jana; seven grandchildren, Sean Michelson, Michael Otten and wife, Amanda, Chris Otten, Baylee Otten, Hannah Cantrell and husband, Ethan, Hunter Bradley and Tyler Bradley; three great-grandchildren, Dakota Michelson, Trinity Otten and Declan Otten; and many other family members and friends.
