Jean Elizabeth House

Jean Elizabeth House of Altus, 79 years of age, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation was provided by the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Jean E. (Heim) House was born October 19, 1938 in Bend, Oregon to Casper and Gladys (Graham) Heim. She graduated high school in Oregon and married Delmer Gene Rich in February of 1957. They moved to California for several years until she divorced in 1968. Jean was a loving wife and dedicated mother, tending to all the needs of her five children and husband. She moved back to Portland, Oregon where she met and married Donald James House on March 26, 1974. Jean was an assembly worker for many years and had retired from the Gerber Fiskar Knife Company in Tigard, Oregon. She moved to Florida for a short time after her husband’s death in 1996 before coming to Altus. She was a member of St. Peters Church of Portland, Oregon and also belonged to Our Lady of Peace Retreat in Beaverton, Oregon. She attended retreat for many years and helped the nuns with all activities during the retreat, such as bible study, kitchen help and taking the children on trips. She joined the Prince of Peace church in Altus when she moved here. She loved taking her children to the Oregon coast, Mt. Hood, and the Strawberry Festivals in St. Helens, Oregon. She had two Siamese Cats for 15 years and she loved them dearly. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Casper & Gladys Heim; husbands, Delmer Gene Rich and Donald James House; and three children, Deborah, Johnny and Raymond Rich.

Jean is survived by one daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Norman; one son, Thomas Rich; eight grandchildren, Steven McCloskey, Nicholas Rich, Christopher Rich, Ashley Rich, Phillip Romero-Gasper, Danielle Mata, Michelle Garrison, Christina Esquivel; and eight great grandchildren, Nathan Garrison, Jacob Garrison, Caileigh Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez, Emily Rodriguez, Lillyana Mata, Angel Mata, Natelie Mata; and many friends.
