Jean Wortham Rickmond, 86, Altus, formerly of Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation has been provided by Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Jean was born July 11, 1935 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to John and Elanor (Lloyd) Parrish. She graduated high school in North Carolina and in 1955, married Lacy Wortham in Henderson, North Carolina. She was a loving wife and mother who tended to the needs of her family. She enjoyed gardening and making crafts.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lacy Wortham; a daughter, Barbara Jean Baird; and sister, Marie Layton.
She is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Anderson and husband, Donald; two sons, Lacy “Rusty” Wortham and wife, Maureen; and Scott Wortham and wife, Pam; six grandchildren, Brent Anderson, Michael, Julie, Christopher, and Stephen Wortham; one great granddaughter, Ava Wortham; and many other relatives and friends.
