Johnie Franklin Walker

June 18, 1936 — August 23, 2019

Johnie Franklin Walker, 83, Blair, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 6:00 PM Monday, August 26, 2019 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Johnie was born the second youngest and last son of 8 children born to Alta (Lackey) and Chester Walker on the 18th of June 1936 in a small house in Headrick, Oklahoma.

Johnie lived a full life by first lying about his age and being drafted during the Korean War but serving his brief Infantry enlistment in Berlin, Germany for two years before the wall went up. Johnie then drove a semi truck, rode the rodeo circuit, skin dived, worked for a missile company and worked many years as a carpenter in California. He finally finished his working for others years in the Civil Service leading the Local Manufacturing branch at Altus Air Force Base and retiring in 1998 after 20 years of service, and spent his retirement years with his wife of 56 years, Nema Joyce Gardner, to their small farm in Blair, Oklahoma. Johnie enjoyed camping, gold panning, hunting and fishing.

Johnie was preceded in death by his sister siblings, Melba Jeanne, Chesta Lee, Naomi Novaleen (Bobbie) and Patricia Faye, and brother siblings, Billy Frances and Charles Ivan.

Johnie is survived by his wife, Nema Gardner Walker, of Blair, Oklahoma; his brother, Doyle Edward Walker of California; Johnie’s four children, Donna Gale of Reno, Nevada, Johnnie Dale of Roseville, California, Eldon "Wes" Wesley of Anchorage, Alaska, and Stephen Ray of Waynesville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
