Kenneth J. Moore, 80, of Hollis passed away Thursday morning, August 22, 2013, at Tamarack Assisted Living in Altus, OK with his family at his side. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Hollis, OK with Rev. David Player and Rev. Donald Altom officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Hollis, OK under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma. Kenneth Moore was born October 22, 1932, in Harmon County as the middle son to Ralph and Addie Lee (Sherman) Moore. He was raised in Harmon County and attended LaCasa Schools (1st-9th grade) and later transferred to Hollis where he graduated High School in 1950. He served his country in the United States Navy from January 14, 1953, to September 19, 1954. He was aboard the U.S.S. Healy during the Korean Conflict. He then returned home to assist his father in farming due to Ralph’s illness. Kenneth married Charlene Carrick on November 23, 1956, at the First United Methodist Church in Hollis, OK. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. His first teaching job was in Duke, OK where he taught and coached boys and girls high school basketball and boys high school baseball while serving as high school principal. In 1963, he moved his family to Hollis where he was employed by First State Bank and Trust Company. Kenneth was a Rotarian, Interact sponsor and a Mighty-Mite volunteer football coach. He also gave back to his community by serving as City Councilman, Lay Leader in the Hollis First United Methodist Church, where he was long time member, and was involved in the Methodist Men Brotherhood. Kenneth was also employed by Wellington State Bank, Small Business Administration and Woods Petroleum Company. He continued to raise cattle and farm for many years after his retirement. In 2004, when Charlene passed from this life, Kenneth continued to farm and ranch until moving to Altus into Tamarack Assisted Living in 2011. Because of the great teachers and examples shown from Kenneth and Charlene, the family has many great memories to share and traditions to continue. He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; parents, Ralph & Addie Lee Moore; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bundy & Jeanette Moore and Monte & Irma Moore; and one sister, Carol Norman Turner, and a brother-in-law, Carroll Melton Carrick and wife Irvine. He is survived by two daughters, Mitsi Bullington and husband Burk of Hollis, OK; Manda Stephens and husband Mike of Altus, OK; three sons, Michael Moore of Hollis, OK; Myron Moore and wife Kelly, of Bushland, TX; Marty Moore and wife Deanna of Sayre, OK; twelve grandchildren, Meggi Gifford and husband Jeremy, Margo Davis and husband Brett, Martha Miller and husband Blaze, Clayton Morris and wife Karli, Malorie Moore, Madison Moore, McCrae Stephens, Merick Moore, Colton Moore, Morgan Moore, McCall Stephens and Marlon Moore; two great-grandchildren, Kaelin Morris and Greenli Gifford; sister-in-law Cathy Lewis and husband Hoyt; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. Viewing and visitation for family and friends will begin 2 p.m. Friday, August 23rd at Kenneth Moore’s home, 222 E. Vivian, Hollis, Oklahoma.
