L. V. Lawson, 74, Altus, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bill Estep officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. L. V. was born on April 30, 1939 in Lexington, Oklahoma to Alvie and Mamie (Ollison) Lawson. He grew up in Altus and attended Altus Public Schools. He married Molly Duck in October 29 of 1960 in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked as a roofer with Frank and Benny Lawson from 1967 – 1978 and as a custodian for Altus Schools from 1978 – 1989. L.V. then went to work for the City of Altus in Maintenance and retired in 1999. Since then, he has worked for the Heritage Park Theater as a custodian. He was a member of the Altus Church of God. L.V. enjoyed working and watching television, especially westerns. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Taking care of his dog, Rascal, and his cat, Tigger, was the highlight of his day. He was preceded in death by his wife, Molly, a son, Eddie, and a brother, Melvin. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Carpenter and husband, Michael of Altus, OK; two sons, Ted Lawson and wife, Sherry, of Sayre, OK and Scotty Lawson and wife, Katrina, of Lawton, OK; twelve grandchildren, Adam, Alyssa, Zaiden, Mason Wayne, Shawn, Ariel, Orrin, Blake, Benji, Jaycob, Kaleyann and Iszy; and two brothers, Willie Lawson of New Jersey and Charles Lawson of Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1320 NW Homestead Drive, STE D, Lawton, Oklahoma 73505. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
