Lawrence Marion Hey, 90, passed away at his home in Blair, Thursday, March 19, 2020 with his family by his side. PRIVATE FAMILY ONLY funeral services have been scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, March 21, 2020 with Tyler McDowell officiating. General public can log on to kincannonfuneralhome.com to view services live stream. There will be a graveside service held Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Wanette Cemetery, Wanette, Oklahoma. Altus FAMILY ONLY services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service and Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell will direct the graveside.
Lawrence Marion Hey was born October 4, 1929 to Lawrence Mathias and Julia Izora (Murray) Hey in Stonington, Colorado. Marion and Myrtle Mae Charlton were united in marriage October 17, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the Sacred Heart Church. He worked in the lumber industry most of his adult life, beginning at Chaffin and Son in 1951. Marion later worked for Sooner Sash and Door for several years and then at Rounds and Porter Lumber for over twenty five years, all located in Oklahoma City. He worked for Blanchard Building Supply from 1989 to 1995. Marion then worked part time at Pearson Lumber in Lexington, Oklahoma from 1995 to 2010 as the head coffee and advice provider while also working his cattle ranch. He was a member of the Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Wanette, Oklahoma, and enjoyed playing music with his children and spoiling his grandchildren.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myrtle and sister, Rosemary McKinley. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Downing and her husband, Steve Larsen; sons, Larry Hey and wife, Davetta; Robert Hey and wife, Sherri; 12 grandchildren, Brian Downing (Sabor); Matt Downing (Amanda); Justin Downing; Stephanie Tachell (Michael); Dustin Hey (Emily); Steven Hey; Jeremy Hey (Brittany); Brandon Hey (Molly); Breawna Hey; Austin Hey; Kenny Mullendore; and Rick Mullendore; 18 great grandchildren, Baylor, Grayson, Colton, Case, Morgan and Gavin Downing; Blair, Kindelyn, Lily, Brynlee, Bryer and Brystol Hey; Tobias and Lynnex Tachell; Lucy, Cora, Hattie and Remington Hey; his sister, Lorraine Childers and husband, Leroy; his brother-in-law, Hoyt McKinley; his dedicated caregiver, Mary Briggs; and his friend and dance partner, Joyce White; the team of wonderful JCMH Hospice nurses and Dr. Dawod.
