Linda Joy Hughes

September 3, 1939 — January 19, 2022

Linda Joy Hughes, 82, of Altus, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, January 24th at Kincannon Funeral Home with Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Linda was born September 3, 1939 in McQueen, Oklahoma to George Lee and Sallie Mae (Powers) Dickerson. She attended schools at Hollis, OK; Sulphur, Ok; and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Mangum High School. She married Jesse J. Hughes on February 6, 1962 in Wheatridge, Colorado; and during their time together, they had four children. Linda was a beloved mother to Genene, Jessica, Sallie, James, and Anna. She was an endlessly devoted, supportive, and loving mother who worked tirelessly in the home raising her family. She attended business school in Oklahoma City, and later worked for the Coors Brewing Company from 1984 until her retirement in 2005. Linda was a devout Christian who loved the Lord, and trusted him with all things. She enjoyed reading, working on the computer, sewing, swimming, and spending time with her family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edward Dickerson and her grandson, Isaac Hughes. She is survived by her children, Genene Gooch-Briggs (Ken), Jessica Lombardo (Dave), Sallie Hughes, James Hughes (Aleatha), and Anna Hughes; siblings, George Dickerson (Deanna), Eva Lee Hughes, and Shirley Kay Dickerson; eight grandchildren, Jamie Catherine, Johnathon, Justin, Samantha, Jacob, Joshua, Krislyn Joy, and Joseph; five great grandchildren, Hunter, Christopher, Jaxon, Grayson, and Abigail; and several other relatives and friends.

Although our hearts break with the passing of our sweet Linda Joy, we take comfort that her earthly struggles are over, and that she is resting easy in the arms of her Savior. She touched the lives of so many during her time here on earth, and the love she showed throughout her life will always be a testament to the extraordinary person she was.
