    Louis Ortega

    August 27, 1934 - April 24, 2022

    Louis G. Ortega, 85, Altus, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Magnolia Creek Nursing and Rehab. A rosary will take place at 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Bishop Joe S. Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Louis was born on August 25, 1936 in Anson, Texas to Adolfo and Silbestra (Garcia) Ortega. He married Adelina Vasquez on November 28, 1953 in Benjamin, Texas. Louis was a master mechanic by trade and worked for Moss Machine Shop for 20 years. He also worked for Jim Click Chevrolet and for the City of Altus Police Department in vehicle maintenance. Louis opened Ortega Automotive and served the Altus and surrounding communities for many years. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and enjoyed Dallas Cowboy and Oklahoma Sooner football, Mexican music, watching auto races and western movies, and working on and racing mini sprints. Louis loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and left a loving legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dora Villeda; two granddaughters, Christina Ortega and Melissa Balicki; a sister, Janie Marceleno; and a brother, Bernardo Ortega, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Adelina, of the home; seven children, Edward Ortega, Danny Ortega and wife, Jeanette, Louis “Bozo” Ortega, Jr., Donna Gutierrez and husband, Joe, Carolyn Zamora, Janie Garcia and husband, Rudy, and Mary O. Esparza; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a close family friend, Desi Walker; three brothers, Rev. Larry Ortega and wife, Rebecca, Robert Ortega and wife, Janie, and Joe Ortega, Sr. and wife, Carmen; five sisters, Marcelina Brewer and husband, Donald, Dolores Montgomery, Francis Lopez and husband, Edward, Carmen G. Ortega, and Maria Alejandra Burciaga; and many other family members and friends. Online tributes may be made at kincannonfuneralhome.com
