Ray Martinez, 83, Altus, passed away at his home Sunday, June 27, 2021. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Ray Martinez was born January 6, 1938 in Chriesman, Texas to Francisco and Miceala (Hernandez) Martinez. He attended school in Chriesman and married Escolastica “Nickie” Roblez in Georgetown, Texas on September 12, 1959. To this union five children were born, Ramiro, Santiago “Jimmy”, Adolfo, Ellie and Martin. After 24 years of marriage his loving wife, Nickie, preceded him in death on May 7, 1983. Ray was a farm hand most of his adult life, working 55+ years for Wallace Farms of Blair, Oklahoma. He was of the Catholic faith and was dedicated to working with animals and raising livestock. In his spare time, he enjoyed John Wayne movies, working with his hands, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He married Nelva Avila on August 18, 1991 in Vernon, Texas.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nickie; his son, Jimmy; sisters, Lupe, Tomasa, Ramona; and brothers, Facundo, Valentin, and Juan.
He is survived by his wife, Nelva; sons, Ramiro and wife, Vivian, Adolfo and wife, Anita, and Martin and wife, Carol; daughter, Ellie Hand and husband, David; step children, Racheal Gonzales and husband, Jimmy, and Sara Alexander and husband, Seth; grandchildren, Denise Jackson, Bobbie Martinez, Michael Otten and wife, Amanda, Justin Martinez and wife Randa, Trey Martinez and fiancé, Shai, Morgan Maddox and husband, Lafe, Mitchell Martinez and wife, Alison, Aaron Abney, Trevor Abney, Levi West, Nikki West and wife, Madalyn, Tyler Martinez, Lindsey Moles and husband, Beau, Wesley Hand and wife, Candice, Willie Hand and Holly Hand; step grandchildren, Timmy Smith, Sierra Smith, Michael Smith and wife, Albany, Kenedi Smith, Ivan Smith and wife, Alicia, and Kaitlyn and Marissa Alexander; great grandchildren, Jasper, Karleigh, Hayden, Hunter, Preston, Trinity, Declan, Alison, Braylee, Alana, Madyson, Angel, Addilynn, Jada, Colt, Denton, Saiyn, Delilah, Walt, Kopen, Kazik, Kaidyn and Alyssa; step great grandson, Logan; siblings, Herminia Martinez, Angela Silvia and husband, Ruben, and Jose Martinez; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
