Rex Marshall, 48, Altus, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 in Lawton, Oklahoma. A memorial reception and celebration of life will be hosted by his friends at the Altus Masonic Lodge #62 on Saturday, March23, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Altus City Cemetery. Rex was born on November 26, 1964 to Don Frank and Vernie (Nickell) Marshall in Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School in 1983, where he most enjoyed being a part of That Altus Band. As a young man, he was a member of the Altus Order of Demolay and later joined the Altus Masonic Lodge #62. Rex had many talents and attended college at Western Oklahoma State College, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Cameron University and the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He studied to become a jeweler, and worked in microchip manufacturing in the Silicon Valley. He served as an officer in the US Army before returning to Altus to help care for his family. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Frank, and his beloved dog, Sara Bella. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Colleen Marshall, of Altus, Oklahoma, and his nephew, Michael Moriarity and his wife, Jamie, and their daughter, Allison, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rex was a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He never came for a visit empty-handed, saying that his mother taught him how to show his love and gratitude for both family and friendship. He held a special pace in his heart for his dearest friend, Jill, who joins Ivan and Daisy, Jeff and Lisa, Mike and Shannon, Mark, Jana and John, and so many others who will long remember Rex’s playful spirit, generous heart, and loving soul.
