Richard F. Magoon, 80, Altus, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Ok. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Freddie Reyes officiating. Burial with military honors will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Richard Francis Magoon was born October 2, 1940 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Francis and Ruth (Mooney) Magoon. He graduated from North Andover (Massachusetts) High School with the Class of 1958. Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 2, 1958 and served 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in October of 1984. Richard and Agrora “Rori” Rosalez were married on May 18, 1977 in Blair, Oklahoma. Following Richard’s retirement from the Air Force, they lived in North Andover Massachusetts for 28 years where he worked for the Eagle Tribune for 19 years. Richard and Rori moved to Altus in 2012. He was of the Methodist faith, attending Fountain of Salvation Church for many years. Richard enjoyed softball as a younger man and especially loved playing Chess with his grandson Adam. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an ardent Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan - Boston All The Way!!
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Francis Magoon, Jr; and his sister, Jackie Battles. He is survived by his wife, Agrora "Rori" Magoon; three daughters, Pamela Keys and husband, Roger Brown; Cynthia Schoonover and husband, Lee; and Karen Perrone and husband, Ray; eleven grandchildren, (John, Phillip, Jason, Christina, Randy, Matthew, Justin, Lee Jr., Cory, Ashley and Adam); numerous great-grandchildren and many friends.
