Robert Taylor, 73, passed away Friday morning, January 30, 2015, at his home in Altus. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 3rd, at the Tamarack Road Church of Christ with Clint Burns, officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. Monday, February 2nd at Kincannon Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home. Robert Lee Taylor was born September 1, 1941, to Nealie Urban and Jewel Inez (Scott) Taylor in Sweetwater, Texas. He attended and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1960, and took some classes at Western Oklahoma State College. Robert and Virginia Flynn were united in marriage on June 4, 1960, in Sweetwater, Texas, and to this union two children were born. Robert began working at the age of nine for the Sunbeam Supermarket. After high school graduation, he worked for Furr's Supermarkets for ten years in several different towns. He managed Sears Stores for twenty-one years in several towns, including Altus. He worked for Western Oklahoma State College and retired as the Physical Plant Director after eleven years. Robert was a member of the Tamarack Road Church of Christ (formerly Thomas Street Church of Christ) where he served as deacon for several years and as an elder for 21 years. He drove the church buses for several years and also went to Guyana on three mission trips. He enjoyed traveling and helping with Sojourners, a national evangelism organization. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, tinkering with mechanics and tools of all kinds. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by both parents, Nealie and Jewel Inez Taylor and one brother, Wayne Taylor. Robert is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; one son, Robert Daryl Taylor and wife, Melissa, of Katy, Texas; one daughter, Angela Kay Howard, and husband, Dewey, of Lubbock, Texas; one sister, Frances Lawson, of Devine, Texas; one brother, Charles Taylor, of Las Vegas, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Maggie Ramsey, Caleb Taylor, Kayla Howard, Matthew Howard, and Lori Howard, and a host of other family and friends.
