Virginia Buckner

August 15, 1950 — May 8, 2021

Virginia Estherine Buckner – Mother, grandmother, niece and daughter, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Altus, Oklahoma at the graceful age of 70. Private family services will be held under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Virginia was born on August 15, 1950 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Willie Lewis and Rachel (Hope) McDaniel. She attended school in her hometown of Frederick. Although she did not complete school, she went on to be a daycare provider, nursing aide, housekeeper and a home provider. Virginia married James Buckner at their beautiful home in Altus on October 31, 1991. Virginia was a staple in her community and was overwhelmingly loved by so many in her lifetime.

Virginia was a devoted soldier for the Lord and anyone who crossed paths with her knew it. She was a very active servant of God and was a part of the Women’s Temple #219 in Frederick under Bishop E.L. Bowie. She was also and active member at the Spirit of the Lord Equipping Center in Altus under Apostle Robert Jackson. Virginia loved to cook, fish, sing church songs, visit nursing homes, read her Bible, praise God, and care for the elderly and kids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Buckner; parents, Willie Lewis and Rachel McDaniel; sisters, Gladys, Essie and Willie Mae; brothers, James and Roy; and stepchildren, Howard, Wilma and Franklin.

Survivors include her children, Waria Bond and husband, Brian, Jerry Bradford and girlfriend, Joan Archibald, Billy Bradford, Melody Bradford-White and husband, Charles, James Bradford and wife, Star, and Gary Smith; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sisters, Mae Jackson and husband, Jack, Lolly Williams and husband, Charles, Sheila and Roberta; stepchildren, Debra Lee Buckner and Beverly Buckner; and special friends, Keith and Michelle Warnsely, Johnnye Ruth Bond, Andy and Chris.

The family would love to express their gratitude to Dr. Tran and the morning crew at Magnolia Creek Skilled Nursing, who not only took care of her but loved her like their own. “We appreciate y’all!”
