IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aaron Leander
Wescott
February 23, 1975 – February 15, 2026
Aaron Leander Wescott, the oldest of three children born to Loren and Charlotte (Lindsay) Wescott, arrived in this world on February 23, 1975, in Denver, Colorado. A valiant protector from a young age, Aaron was a fierce yet calming presence—always there for his mother and sisters after their father’s passing, when Aaron was just seven years old.
After graduating from high school in 1994 in Orleans, Nebraska, Aaron joined the United States Air Force in March of 1994, faithfully standing in brotherhood and camaraderie while serving his country for more than 20 years through active duty and Air National Guard. While overseas, he was a member of the European Rodeo Cowboy Association, competing in rough stock events. Upon retirement from the Air National Guard with rank of Master Sergeant, Aaron obtained his bachelor’s degree in emergency management and recently earned a master’s degree in health and safety.
Service was ingrained in Aaron’s very being. Beyond his distinguished military career in the fire service, Aaron also proudly served as a civil service firefighter, holding the rank of Captain at the time of his passing. Additionally he was a volunteer firefighter, served as an EMT, worked as a landfill supervisor, federal prison guard, and was a Fire Department Captain for Bell Helicopter.
In 2001, Aaron’s world—as he had always known it—grew immensely when he met his best friend and true partner in life, Jennifer Dawn Wilkerson. An off-chance meeting over a beer and a dance quickly blossomed into a shared life built through work, a few two-steppin’ dances, deep friendship, and an enduring love meant to last a lifetime. Aaron’s unwavering love for Jenny easily flowed to her children—Sarah, Brittany, and Heather and their family of five became whole. A few years later, Owen arrived, making the Wescott family complete.
Aaron loved being a husband and father. He instilled his love for the Lord in each of his children, extending grace wherever he could—even through rebellious and sometimes turtle-slow teenage years. He was all about family and was content to do whatever made them happy. Whether it was crystal digging, being the wrestling dad, or taxi-driving kids from place to place, Aaron was happiest simply being with those he loved.
Aaron passed from this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 15, 2026. In typical Aaron fashion he was at work, completing a final call of service and woke up in heaven. A life well lived—full of love, patience, integrity, and honor—was cut too short for those left behind.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Wescott and Charlotte Melchoir-Bunn; and his best buddy, Dougie “the Squirrel” Casson. His memory will live on through his loving wife of 25 years, Jenny; his children, Sarah Smith, Brittany Morrow and husband, Luke, Heather Lord and husband, Quyntin, and Owen Wescott; his grandchildren, Avalyn Smith, Kambria Morrow, Elena Lord, and Lucy Sue Lord; his sisters, Stacy Latter and husband, Craig, and Jamie Schmeits and husband, Josh; three nieces; one nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and—last but not least—an abundance of friends and coworkers across the globe whom Aaron proudly served alongside throughout his career.
Aaron’s life was marked by an enduring devotion to serving others, a deep sense of brotherhood and camaraderie, and—above all—the humble, steadfast love he poured into his family. His eternal ember of kindness and faith will continue to glow in the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
