Arlis Dale Whittington, a longtime resident of Blair, Oklahoma, passed from this life to the next on December 27, 2024. Arlis was born to Victor and Lois (Dobbs) Whittington in Grandfield, Oklahoma on November 17, 1944.

Arlis attended school in Grandfield. He grew up along the Red River where he enjoyed fishing with his brothers. Arlis served in the United States Navy from 1962 - 1966 and the Naval Reserve from 1966 - 1968. Although his career was in the commercial truck driving industry, he and his brothers worked for many local farmers. He worked as a truck driver for Yates Implement in Altus for several years before retiring to care for his mother. 

Arlis was a musician. He enjoyed playing the guitar with his family and friends and was a part of the Blair Four Band at one time. Arlis could often be found sitting outside the All American in Blair drinking coffee with his brother, Jerry. 

Arlis was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lois; one brother, Ronald Whittington; and two sisters, Sharon Lavoie and Vicky Shaw. Survivors include three brothers, Donald Whittington and wife, Marlene of Chehalis, Washington, Jerry Whittington of Blair, and Kirby Myers of Memphis, Texas; two sisters, Jeanie Steinmetz and husband, Pete of Havre, Montana and Janice Oak of Prescott, Arizona; and a host of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
