Audean Vinyard, 86, Altus, passed on to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Audean was born on August 15, 1924 in Altus, Oklahoma to Ed and Mary (Robeson) Long. She graduated from Porter High School, where she played basketball. Audean then attended Altus Junior College. She married Harold Vinyard in Altus on February 12, 1945. Mr. Vinyard passed away on May 3, 2000. She worked various jobs in her early years to include working at the USDA Cotton Classing Office, Bureau of Reformation and the Strategic Air Command at Altus Air Force Base. One of her greatest joys in life was cooking for and entertaining her grandchildren. She was a delightful lady with a clever sense of humor and strong wit. Audean never let anyone leave her house hungry and was also very insightful and generous. Her parents, husband, two sisters, Claudia and LaVeta, and two brothers, Lloyd and Raymond, preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Sam Vinyard and his wife, Cindy, of Altus, Oklahoma, and Dan Vinyard and his wife, Cheryl, of Mangum, Oklahoma; a daughter, Jeanie Vinyard of Yukon, Oklahoma; a sister, Mary Jo Saunders and her husband, Raymond, of Bradford, PA; a brother, Ruben Long and his wife, Margie, of Altus, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Ryan, Shelby, Jonathon, Charlcey, and Carson; and several nieces and nephews that she loved and appreciated. Also endeared to the family is the staff from Plantation Village Assisted Living Center, where she made may new friendships; and her special caregivers, Amy, Margarita, Paubla, Paubla and Nancy.
