Bobby Joe West was born on November 24, 1951, in Temple, Oklahoma, to Jessie and Mildred (Ballard) West. After the family moved to Altus, Bobby attended Lincoln High School. In September 1987, he married Bobbie Jo Morgan, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and steadfast devotion. They shared twenty-five blessed years before her passing in 2012.
Bobby was a humble servant of the Lord and lived each day with a heart anchored in faith. As a devoted child of God and a Minister, he found joy in sharing the gospel and uplifting others. He treasured the simple, sacred moments of life—laughing with his family, playing dominos, fishing, and lifting his voice in gospel song. His life was a testament to God’s grace, and his presence brought light, warmth, and encouragement to all who knew him. He passed from this life on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 74.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bobbie Jo; his parents, Jessie and Mildred; sisters, Edna Sterling and Jessie M. Williams; and brothers, Luther, Claudy, Leotis, Walter, Willis, Cecil, Harold, Frank, and David West.
Left to carry his legacy is his daughter, Christy West, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, KiShawn Coleman, Moheit Coleman, Solei West, Zayonna West, and Keyandra West; great-grandchildren, Nolan West, Jeremiah Carbajal Jr, and Sunflower Carbajal; sister, Mrs. Sherry Dykes and husband, Willie of Altus; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary West of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Geneva West of Altus; Omar Pollard, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He also survived by his beloved dog, Chester, who was his constant companion for over 15 years.
Though Bobby has left this earthly home, his spirit rests in the eternal peace of his Savior. His family takes comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his beloved family and now walks in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully. May his memory continue to shine as a reminder of God’s unfailing love, and may his memory inspire all who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Tamarack Road Church of Christ, 1000 E. Tamarack Road in Altus with Bishop Victor West and Minister Adam Matthews officiating.
