Bona Jean Ator was born on August 17, 1957, to Virginia (Holloway) and Bernard Ator in Pittsfield, Illinois. She grew up in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1975. In 1978, Bona married, and they relocated to Altus. A short time later she moved to Blair and resided there until her passing. Bona worked at many restaurants as a manager. Despite being a single mother, she was a hard worker. Bona never met a stranger. She was very sociable and would talk to just about anyone. Bona would always give someone something if they asked for it, even if she did not have it. She was very smart and quick-witted. She was always quick to answer anytime something was asked of her. Bona enjoyed her grandchildren and being a great-grandma. She really loved going to and watching all the grandchildren participate in their sporting events and other activities. She could sew or crochet anything and she loved making dolls and blankets for her family. When not spending time with her grandchildren Bona was taking care of her dogs. She loved them so much and treated them like her own children. Bona was known by many and loved by all.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bernard Ator; niece, Rashell Cox; nephew, Bo Buss; and sister-in-law, Janice Ator. Bona is survived by her mother, Viginia Ator; daughter, Melissa Charles and husband, Bobby; daughter, Julia Roach; son, James Paul “Willie” Martens, II; brothers, Jim Ator and wife, Sandy and Jerry Ator and friend, Stephanie; sisters, Judy Cox and husband, Charlie and Joanne Smith and husband, Carl; grandchildren, Alyssa Torrez, Stephen Torrez and wife, Elena, Carter Torrez, Jaxson Torrez, Trey Charles, Cody Charles, Tiffany Charles, Logan Roman and wife, Kristen and Kenley Roach; great-grandchildren, Madi, Remi, Reagan, and Kenny Weber, Levi and Olivia Torrez, Deagan, Oakley, and Raelyn Roman, Case and Jade Charles, Weston Charles, and one on the way; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a ton of friends.
