Brenda Sue Novak

Brenda Sue Novak, endeared by all as “Brandi,” passed from this life at her home in Blair, Oklahoma, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the age of 67. Her creativity and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Brandi was born on December 3, 1957, in Viroqua, Wisconsin. On January 25, 2003, she married her best friend, John Stanley Novak, in Kodiak, Alaska, and together they began a life full of love and adventure.

A talented author, Brandi, shared stories and parables of life with a gentle touch and meaningful insight. Her creativity and ability to connect through words reflected the heart she shared with everyone around her.

Brandi was a gentle soul with a taste for adventure. She loved the outdoors, especially camping and exploring on 4-wheelers. No matter where life took her and John, she always found a church home, staying firmly rooted in her Baptist faith.

Above all, family was everything to Brandi. She treasured every moment with her beloved grandchildren and even her grand pups, whose joy always brought her a smile.

Her father, John O. De LaMater; and Aunt Tooty preceded her in death. Her memory will live on in her devoted husband of 22 years, John; children, David Mattson, Destiny Reed and husband, Billy, Rebecca Cookson, and fiancé, Travis, and Samantha Novak; grandchildren, Mark and wife, Katie, Bradley and wife, Camas, Courtney and husband, Carson, Jeffery, Jacey, May, Jade, Dade, Connor, Haylee, and Austin; and great-grandchildren, Asher, Ollie, and Vienna.
