Carol Sue (White) Johnson was born on October 3, 1949, in Eagle Lake, Texas, to Elbert and Edna (Harrington) White. She was one of three sisters, Loyce Jean and Rubie Ann. Carol spent much of her childhood growing up in Texas, surrounded by her family and the love of her sisters.

Carol met the love of her life, Dennie Ray Johnson, at Del Rio, Texas. They were married at the Baptist Temple Church in Del Rio, Texas, on December 18, 1965, and shared 61 beautiful years side by side. As Dennie served in the Armed Forces, they traveled together and made a home wherever life took them. A deployment assignment brought them to Altus, Oklahoma, where they made their home in 1979. Together, they raised two beautiful children and filled their years with many wonderful memories.

Carol and Dennie were devoted to the Lord and had been faithful members of Tabernacle Baptist Church since 2003. Her favorite passage of Scripture was 1 John, Chapter 2. Carol loved to read and care for her dogs, who she loved to spoil with the occasional hot dog. She loved hot dogs herself, too, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy one.

Carol earned her GED while living with Dennie at Travis Air Force Base in California, with his loving encouragement and help. She built a career as a Nurse’s Aide and later served as a Unit Secretary at Jackson County Memorial.

Carol passed from this life at her home in Altus, Oklahoma, on September 28, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Loyce Jean Crawley and Rubie Ann Decker; and her beloved baby, Katherine Jean.

Those left to cherish and honor Carol’s memory include her beloved husband, Dennie Ray Johnson; her two sons, Dennie Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Susan, and Timothy Lee Johnson and his wife, Diane; her grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb, Blake, and Morgan; and one great-grandchild. She will also be deeply missed by many others who loved her dearly and will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Services for Carol will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Pastor Gregory Hawn officiating. Burial will follow at Altus City Cemetery.
