Clay Lynn Moreau

April 24, 1939 — January 4, 2024

Clay Lynn Moreau, 84, Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A family visitation will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kincannon Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9th, at the Hess Cemetery with Darrell Coffman officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

 

Clay was born on April 24, 1939, in Olustee, Oklahoma to Floyd Clay and Mae Lynn (Alexander) Moreau. He attended Olustee School, graduating with the Class of 1959. Clay married Barbara Gayle McGee on March 1, 1965, in Olustee. Carrying on the family tradition from when his great grandparents, Benjamine and Sophie Moreau, homesteaded in the Olustee area, Clay and Barbara raised their family there also. Clay was a farmer/rancher by trade. He also worked for the Republic Gypsum, and later the American Gypsum in Duke for 20 years. He was an active school board member at Olustee School for many years. He also served as a Deacon at Olustee First Baptist Church before relocating to Altus. He and Barbara were faithful members of the Red River Cowboy Church in Mangum.

 

Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mae Lynn; and sisters, Bobby Betts and Jane Black. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; sons, Joey McGee and wife, Collette and Roy Wayne Moreau; daughter, Sandra Townsend and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Wesley Wilhite, Nolynn Wayne Moreau, Ethan Moreau, Erick Moreau, and Whitley Townsend; great grandchildren, Peighton Wilhite and Emerie Wilhite; sister, Jeannie Moreau; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and many friends.

 

The family requests that donations in Clay’s memory be made to Red River Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 177, Mangum, Oklahoma 73554. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
