Connie Wayne West entered this life on February 8, 1964, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Sherry Jean West and Connie Ray Gardley.
Connie Wayne, as he was affectionately called, grew up with many siblings and cousins who were like his siblings. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church, Altus, Oklahoma. He was active in church, singing in the choir and doing other activities.
He was raised in Altus and attended Altus Schools. Connie Wayne was full of life and often the center of laughter at family gatherings. Growing up with his siblings, he was never short on adventures. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, carrying his love for sports well into adulthood. He loved fishing and animal lover at heart. Connie Wayne was a hard worker, he worked often as a cook and as a warehouse foreman.
Connie Wayne found happiness in the little things that meant the most, and above all, cherishing time spent with his family and friends. After a lengthy illness, Connie Wayne entered enteral rest surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the age of 61.
He was preceded in death by his father, Connie Ray Gardley; stepfather, Rev. Theron Booker; and grandparents, Joshua Telford, Jessie Mae Gardley, and Jessie and Mildred West.
His laughter and precious memories will live on in his parents, Sherry and Willie Dykes (Altus).
Children: Corey Tennell and wife, Lindsey (OKC), Keith Pease (Lawton), Ashley West (Atlanta, GA), Ebony Holman-King and husband, Gary (OKC).
Siblings: Barbara K. Lofton and husband, Ronnie (Evans, GA), Carl West (OKC), Glen Townsend (Altus), Patrick Townsend (OKC), Sharon Fisher (Amarillo, TX), Jacqueline Jefferson and husband, Gerald (Fort Worth, TX), Kana Nelson (Georgia), and Kerija Gardley, Kalod Gardley, and Kelef Gardley (Clovis, NM).
Grandchildren: Ke’vonte Pease, Tatum Tennell, Teagan Tennell, Dayton Holman, and Bosston Holman.
Aunts: Beverly Lemmon (Muskogee, OK), Francis Deloney (Muskogee, OK), Mary West (OKC), and Geneva West (Altus). Uncles: Donald Ray, best friend (OKC), Dan Goodson, II (Altus), Clarence Jefferson and wife, Marcella (Tulsa), Robert White (Muskogee, OK); and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM on Monday, August 25th, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 28th, in the Kincannon Memoria Chapel with Bishop Victor West and Rev. Eric West officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
The family invites friends to join them for the Repast at the Altus Community Center–East Side, 401 Falcon Road, immediately following the committal service at the cemetery.
