Donald Lee Houtchens

April 13, 1938 — August 8, 2025

Blair

Donald Lee “Don” Houtchens was born on April 13, 1938, in Fittstown, Oklahoma, to Daniel and Beulah (Carr) Houtchens. Growing up alongside his brothers, Don was always ready for the next adventure. The family later relocated to California, where the boys were raised and attended school.

It was in California that Charlene Faye McNutt caught Don’s eye. The young couple married in Patterson, California, beginning a life together that would see both challenges and enduring devotion. Though they divorced, their love never faded, and they remarried in Reno, Nevada. Don worked for San Joaquin County for 25 years in mosquito abatement before spending another decade on the county road crew.

Following Charlene’s passing in 2015, Don returned to Oklahoma to be near family, settling east of Blair. He filled his days with the hobbies he loved most—playing poker, cornhole, and fishing—but his favorite place to be was always the golf course. This ace of a man passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8th, at the age of 87.

His beloved wife, Charlene; daughters, Donna Houtchens and Debra Houtchens; parents, Daniel and Beulah; and brother, Bob Houtchens preceded him in death. His fun and adventurous spirit will live on in his son, Jeff Houtchens and wife, Carrie; grandchildren, Jeff D. Houtchens and wife, Chealsey, Cynthia Smith and husband, Shane, Myles Conner, David VanDyke, Sara VanDyke, Jeffery Morris, Jennifer Skobrac, Harold Combs, and Heather Sartain and husband, James; brother, Wayne Houtchens and wife, Judy; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will formally greet friends for a Gathering of Remembrance from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
