Obituary

Dorothy Jane came into this world on July 27, 1933. Born to Arthur Love and Elizabeth (McTigritt) Robinson in Red Oak, Oklahoma, she was one of nine siblings. Raised as a preacher’s daughter actively involved in The Salvation Army, Dorothy learned from an early age that acts of service are among the most powerful ways to show the love of Christ.

Following her graduation from high school, Dorothy married Donald M. “Don” Davis on July 15, 1951, in Morgan Hill, California. Fiercely independent and strong-willed, Dorothy and Don were often described as oil and water—different as east is from west—yet their love flourished. In their differences, they were the perfect match. Together, they raised their pride and joy, their daughter Lucretia, affectionately known as Crickett.

The lovebirds traveled extensively throughout the years, following Don’s knack for finding the most unexpected employment. Their journey took them to California, Nevada, Arkansas, New Jersey, Hawaii, and even the Marshall Islands. No matter where life led them, Dorothy immersed herself fully in each community. Her table always held an open seat for anyone in need. While living in the Marshall Islands, she shared her knowledge with the locals—teaching them how to cook chicken with vegetables and how to wash clothes—quiet acts of kindness that left lasting impressions.

Dorothy fully committed her life to the Lord in the early 1970s. She deeply understood the importance of worship and faithfully packed up her family each Sunday to ride a ferry for church services while living in the Marshall Islands—an all-day journey that reflected her unwavering devotion. She firmly believed that faith did not require formal church membership to be genuine, but rather a sincere heart devoted to God.

Dorothy took great pride in her home and in the many businesses she and Don developed together throughout their 53 years of marriage, until his passing in 2004. Soon afterward, she relocated to Blair, Oklahoma, to be near Crickett and her family in retirement. Never one to slow down, Dorothy remained active by selling a variety of products through Melaleuca, Amway, and Avon. She was involved in the Oklahoma Home and Community Education organization, faithfully participated in the Census count, and took part in the Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain.

Dorothy stepped peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on the afternoon of Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; grandson, Alton Davis; great-great grandbaby Nash; parents, Athur and Elizabeth; and her eight siblings.

Her tenacious spirit and infectious smile will live on in her daughter, Crickett Davis and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Dawn Foshee and husband, Kyle, James Froelich and wife, Krissy, Sheila Davis, and Denny Davis and wife, Krysti; great-grandchildren, Danyelle Tyner and husband, Andrew, Gage Foshee, Christen Malman and husband, Ryan; KyLeigh Nash and husband, Justin, Casey Tripp and husband, Tanner, Dillon Davis and wife, Kaitlyn, Anna Davis and boyfriend, Braden, Kyle Froelich and girlfriend, Kinzie, Abby Davis, Kathryn Schlotthauer and husband, Kyle, Karley Froelich, Alee Davis, and Alan Davis; great-great grandchildren, Marly, Paizly, and Tinzly McDaniel, Chisum Tyner, Drakleigh Nash, Brooks Tyner, and Luke Schlotthauer.

A Memorial Service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus. Inurnment will take place at Blair Cemetery.
