Eddie Carrel Cardwell, Jr. was born on February 3, 1962, in Vernon, Texas, to Alice Mae (Krieg) Cardwell and Eddie Carrel Cardwell, Sr. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Quanah, Texas, and then to Altus at the end of 1966. Altus became his lifelong home, where he graduated with the Class of 1981 and remained for the rest of his life.
Eddie was a devoted family man who never let a birthday go unnoticed. You could always count on a call from him with warm wishes, and if you missed it, he would keep trying until he reached you.
He was a proud member of the Altus Bowling League for more than 35 years, becoming a skilled and dedicated bowler over the decades. Eddie was also a faithful member of the Salvation Army Church, where he faithfully served as a bell ringer, a role he carried out with pride.
In his quieter moments, he enjoyed working word searches and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Eddie was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Dallas Cowboys, with the Houston Astros and the Oklahoma City Thunder close behind. He had an incredible memory for sports statistics and could recall them with ease. On Friday nights when the Bulldogs played at home, you could count on seeing Eddie in the stands, cheering them on.
Eddie passed from this life at his home on March 2, 2026, at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Carrel Cardwell, Sr., and his paternal grandmother, Virginia Philips.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his mother, Alice Guest; his two brothers, Terry Cardwell and his wife, Jeanette, and Buck Guest and his wife, Crystal; his two sisters, Lana Gales and her husband, Andrew, and April Watson and her husband, James; his aunt, Karen Meers; and his special friend, Mary Ann Crow. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
The family will formally greet friends from 6:00–8:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel.
