Altus

Elaine Marie (Noah) Ramirez passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Oklahoma City at the age of 67. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and love of family left a lasting mark on everyone she met.

Elaine was born in Traverse City, Michigan, to James Dawson Noah and Esther Elaine Whitemon. A proud member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, she spent her early years in Michigan, attending school when not traveling with her family during the cotton harvest throughout the southern Great Plains. Her childhood was rich with adventure and deepened by the joy of growing up alongside her siblings, whom she adored and doted on.

During one of those seasonal trips to Oklahoma, Elaine met Elizar Ramirez of Mangum. They married in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1977 and soon settled in southwest Oklahoma to start their own family. Elaine often spoke of life’s simple pleasures, like picking oranges—not for the work, but for the sweet reward afterward.

Elaine was the heart of her family. A devoted mother, she thrived in the presence of loved ones, always ready to share a meal, a story, or a good laugh. Known for her skill in the kitchen, her recipes were cherished by all who gathered around her table. A natural jokester, she filled every room with laughter and joy.

She carried a deep pride in her Native heritage, a love for country music, and above all, a boundless affection for her children. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of resilience, generosity, and unwavering love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elizar; parents, James and Esther; and siblings, Rosalinda Rivera and twin baby brothers. Elaine’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she cherished most, her children - Juan Ramirez and wife, Gina, Velma Campos and husband, Saul, Melinda Ramirez, Belinda Ybarra and husband, Mike, and Dorene Ramirez and husband, Rogelio Rodriguez; grandchildren, Sirena Ramirez, Liliana, Ariana, Amee, and Diego Campos, Monica and Michael Ybarra Jr., Jacob and Nick Lopez, Giselle Rodriguez, Isiah Ramirez, Ethan Rodriguez, Amaya King Rodriguez, and Cynthia Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Mateo, Mylah, Manny, Sienna, Elaina, Kaliaha, and Salem; her treasured siblings, Joseph Rivera, Martin Rivera, Mary Ramirez, Michael Rivera, Darlene Madrono, Dorene Rivera, Frank Rivera, and Rebecca Rivera; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, May 5th, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Wright officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Altus City Cemetery. True Life Church will host family and friends for a meal after services conclude.
