Floyd Ray Hughen

March 25, 1939 — January 28, 2023

Floyd R. Hughen, 83, Altus, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at his home with family by his side. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Brent Logan officiating. Burial will follow at the Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, Oklahoma, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Floyd was born March 25, 1939 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Clifford and Hazel (Ross) Hughen. He had attended Hobart Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Altus High School. He and Von Underwood were married February 15, 1959 in Nocona, Texas. Floyd served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and owned and operated Cliff’s Van and Storage in Altus from 1965-1981 and farmed during that time. He then worked at Republic Gypsum until retirement. Floyd enjoyed staying busy and helping others while working at JCMH, Southwest Transit, and Tumbleweeds Work Center, but his special calling and joy, was serving as an evening visitation host at Kincannon Funeral Home for several years. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as the song leader for many years. Floyd and Von enjoyed traveling in their recreational vehicles to visit friends and family. He also enjoyed church work, hunting with close friends and family, and working in his yard. Floyd’s real talents were witnessing, sharing God’s Word, and praying for those in need.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Hazel (Ross) Hughen; his grandson, Andrew Hughen; and his brother, Kenneth Hughen and Ken’s wife, Ernestine (Roebuck) Hughen.

He is survived by his wife, Von; one daughter, Debbie Algeo and husband, Arnold; one son, Tony Hughen and wife, Michelle; four grandchildren, Colby Roberts and wife, Jessica, Parker Roberts and wife, Bailey, Matthew Hughen and wife, Jacinda, and Jacob Hughen; five great grandchildren, Cooper, Cade, Howdy, Creed, and Hadley Roberts; son-in-law, Dale Roberts; sister-in-law, Kartha Hughen; nieces, Pam Fitzsimons and husband, Dennis and family, Sandy Johnson and husband, Bruce and family, Kerri Hughen and family; along with friends.

The Family is so appreciative to JCMH Hospice for their loving, compassionate care; always leaving him with a smile on his face.

The Hughen Family will greet friends Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
