Louise Dollins, 93, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 16th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Kincannon Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17th, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Louise was born Georgia Louise Holder to George and Ruby (Sain) Holder on June 25, 1930, in Creta, Oklahoma. Louise’s life was defined by her experiences growing up during the Great Depression and World War II. She always had a story to tell about surviving the Dust Bowl while growing up at Creta.

Louise was the oldest of eight children. She attended school at Eldorado, graduating in 1948. She then attended Altus Jr. College while working at Dunn’s Café. While working there she met Raymon Rollins. They were married in Quannah, Texas on August 8, 1949. Raymon and Louise farmed the “Bill Luderson Place” located at the now Altus Soccer Field and the “Cox’s place” which is now the Heritage Park Estates. In 1959, they bought a small 36-acre farm on Racetrack Road. Louise and Raymon had three children: Larry, Raelene, and Gary. Larry died as an infant. Raymon died suddenly on May 7, 1964, and Louise, Raelene, and Gary moved to Altus.

In April 1965, Louise met Leon Dollins, a widower from Elmer, Oklahoma, who was raising his three sons: Donnie, Lynn Dale, and Eugene (Scrub). They married on August 21, 1965. The family resided in Altus but spent most weekends at the farm in Elmer. At the end of the school year, they moved the family to Elmer, purchasing the White farm.

Louise and Leon had Wyndell in 1967, completing the family. They farmed and raised cattle. In 1975, they moved to Altus with Scrub and Wyndell while continuing to farm and raise cattle. Also, during this time, they began custom harvesting. Plus, Louise worked at several retail stores including Altus Health Food Store and Conger’s Western Wear Store, later retiring from South Main Drug Store.

As empty nesters they assisted in raising grandchildren, enjoyed camping in their motorhome, and attending events with the Good Sams Club. Lots of weekends were spent at Lugert Lake or the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge with kids, but most importantly grand kids. Eventually they sold the cattle and farms but still assisted with providing care for all the grandchildren.

Louise & Leon entered the Courtyard of Magnolia Creek Assisted Living Center in October 2019. Leon passed away on November 6, 2020. Louise continued to reside at Magnolia Assisted Living Center until her passing.

Louise is preceded in death by her husbands, Raymon Rollins and Leon Dollins; sons, Larry Rollins, Gary Rollins, and Donnie Dollins; a daughter-in-law, Kim Rollins; and great grandson, Corbin Rollins; her parents, George & Ruby Holder; brothers, Jim Holder and David Holder; and sisters, Freda Beals and Carolla Faye Lunney.

She is survived by her daughter, Raelene Rollins; daughter-in-law, Fancy Rollins; sons, Wyndell Dollins and wife, Jennifer, W.E. “Scrub” Dollins and wife, Donna, and Lynn Dale Dollins and wife, Doris; grandchildren, Besty Reynolds, Charlie Dollins and wife, Lindsey, Katie Brewer and husband, Josh, Neal Rollins, Beth Hogg and husband, Mark, Kyle Dollins and wife, Allison, Garrett Dollins and wife, Kayla, Kyndell Dollins and wife, Katherine, Dusty Terry and husband, Clayton, Jimmie Kate Cope and husband, Jacob; 19 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
