Glenna G. Janis, age 76, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on September 20, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband of 27 years.
Glenna was born on December 21, 1948, in Altus to Norma Lee (Caid) and Francis Edward Gillespie.
Glenna married Paul L. Janis on September 4, 1998, and together they shared 27 years of marriage filled with love and companionship. From the minute they met, Paul lovingly called her his “Angel,” a name that perfectly reflected the kindness and grace she carried throughout her life.
She had a lifelong passion for flowers and gardening — Glenna could grow anything and knew how to care for every type of plant. Her backyard was her sanctuary, a place of peace and beauty where she felt closest to God among the flowers and trees. Glenna also enjoyed the quiet joy of working on jigsaw puzzles, finding both relaxation and satisfaction in piecing them together.
More than her hobbies, Glenna truly cherished her daughters. She was always just a phone call away and was the best listener, offering her children unwavering love, support, and comfort.
Glenna is preceded in death by her parents, Norma Lee Gillespie and Francis Edward Gillespie; her sister, Donna Dwyer; and her grandson, Aron George.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Linda Massey; her devoted husband, Paul L. Janis; along with a large and cherished family.
Her children include:
● Dustye Merriman and husband, Shane and daughter, Tara.
● Shanna Williams and husband, Warren Bomboy Jr. and children, Aaron, Tommi, Barbara, and Cyndi, and their families.
● Robin Shetter and husband, Alan, and children, Raena, Brittney, Cade, and Rosemary, and their families.
● Dandi Sipes and children, Christian, Sierra, Anna, and Gracie, and their families.
● Jillian Garrett and husband, Jerry and children Taylor, Crue, Ally, Addy, and Saylar.
● Jessica George and husband, Chris and children, Caleb, Caelyn, and Callen.
● Amy Shelby and husband, Tyler and children Noah, Jonah, and Saylor.
● Kimberly Self and husband, Dustin and their children, Tarran, Savanna, Jordan, Ashley, and Summer, and their families.
Glenna’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind not only her children, but also a legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends who will continue to feel her love in their lives.
