Haley Jordan Newberry

November 12, 1984 — August 23, 2023

Haley Jordan Newberry, 38, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at her home in Granite. A private family memorial will be held at a later date at the Granite City Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Haley Jordan Newberry was born on November 12, 1984 in Altus, Oklahoma to “Skip” and Tina (Farmer) Newberry. Being an only child, she grew up around many, many cousins from both sides of her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandparents who lived out in the country near the Friendship community. Growing up with her two cousins, Amber and Taylor, she always had stories to tell about their many mischievous antics. She was a lover of animals and always had a dog or cat or both in her possession. She attended Navajo Public School and was a graduate of the Class of 2003. She loved sports, especially softball, where she played first base for the Lady Navajo Indians. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners. Haley loved music, and she and her mom shared a special obsession with the Beatles. They were avid collectors of anything related to the group. Her favorite set of clothing always consisted of black, baggy pants and a black Beatles shirt. Haley also loved Steven Tyler and his band, Aerosmith, and she attended at least 10 of his concerts. She loved watching scary movies and couldn’t understand why everyone didn’t like them.

After high school, Haley attended Western Oklahoma State College, graduating with an associate degree. She went on to the University of Central Oklahoma and attended for one more year. It was during this time she was involved in a serious car accident which left her with permanent disabilities that stayed with her for the remainder of her life. She was a sweet soul and could be described as a “big heart with feet.” Haley will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Haley was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Tara; her grandparents, Jackie and Clonus Farmer, and Jack and Mary Newberry.

She is survived by three aunts, Janice Wilson of Snyder, Debbie Laney of Altus, and Marilyn McLaughlin and husband, Gary, of Blair; an uncle, Larry Newberry and wife, Beverly; many cousins and numerous friends.
