Hazel Pauline (Shepherd) Hodge passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025. She was a good friend to many, and she would help wherever and whenever she could.
Born to William Thomas “Tommy” and Alice (Barker) Shepherd on July 10, 1940, in Temple Hill, Arkansas, she attended a one room schoolhouse and graduated from the 8th grade. Hazel married Robert N. “Bob” Hodge on January 27, 1967. They relocated to southwest Oklahoma where they raised a family together.
Hazel was a strong woman of faith. She had a love for cooking and baking. The family’s favorite dish was affectionately known as “Grandma’s Pot of Junk”. She was a cook for many years at Furr’s Cafeteria, United Bunker Hill Snack Bar, the Corner Café, and Tamarack Retirement Center. She cooked for camp meetings and fellowship luncheons. She also baked cookies for the airmen stationed at Altus Air Force Base over the Christmas holiday. She made assorted candies, jellies, and canned food-and taught others how to also. Apple butter, strawberry rhubarb jelly, peaches were some of the favorites but there was so much more!
She made walker totes and adult bibs for seniors and veterans. She was also a seamstress, mending clothing for family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, fashioning jewelry, and even upholstering.
Her husband, Bob; sons, James D. Hodge and Robert E. Hodge; daughter, Charlene Hollingsworth; parents, Tommy and Alice; and three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Hazel’s faithfulness will live on in her daughter, Tammy Lucas: her children, Steven Lucas, James Lucas, Timothy Lucas and wife, Becca (Kamden and Kenley); daughter, Alice Lucas: her children, Rolland and Grace; daughter-in-law, Debra Hodge: her children, Leslie Jameson and husband, Kyle (Destiny and Journey) and Justin Hodge and wife, Deleigh (Adyson, Jaxon, Twilla, & Payton); two special friends, adopted children in Christ Jesus, Doug and Anita Brown; and many relatives and friends.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Warren Church of Christ with Ron Suiter officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Warren Cemetery.
