Helen Ruth Weldon lived a full and well-served life - many times through a tasty treat or a warm, hearty meal – and a life with a full quiver. She passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the age of 93.

The family will formally greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 20th. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 21st, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Ferris officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Gould Cemetery.

Born to William Shelton “Bill” and Martha Elizabeth (Fuller) Tooley on August 13, 1932, in Snyder, Oklahoma, the family moved to California so Bill could work in the shipyard during WWII. On their way back from the golden state they stopped in Hollis, Oklahoma. Bill loved the area so much that the family settled there and Helen, along with her sister, Betty, attended Ron School in Harmon County. After high school Helen married Johnny Pierson. Although the marriage did not withstand the turmoil of the Korean War, the lasting love of two beautiful daughters born did, Susie and Louetta.

While working at a café in Hollis, Helen met a young widower named Wyman Elmo Weldon with four children of his own, Nancy, Patsy, Mickey, and Lane. She caught his eye instantly and their love story began over daily café visits, culminating in marriage on November 10, 1957, in Hollis. Helen and Wyman blended their families, and they had another four children together, Teddy, Twyman, Chryl, and Chad, bringing the total to ten—spanning a 30-year age range. As the family grew so did the pan used to bake fresh biscuits she lovingly made every morning.

Helen’s heart was in the kitchen as much as in her home. She served her community faithfully, dedicating 28 years to the Gould School cafeteria until its closure in 1990. She served another 20 years at Eldorado School, showering others with love through warm meals. Her cinnamon rolls were famous, and her hot rolls and sugar cookies were favorites throughout the generations. She not only cooked for her family and the hundreds of schoolchildren through the years, but also for other families in need throughout the community.

A lifelong servant, Helen worked tirelessly. In her lifetime she chopped and pulled cotton, baled hay, canned food, took in ironing, and much more. She was a Sunday school teacher, sharing her faith and love for the Lord with others for over 40 years. Simply put, Helen loved her Jesus and her family. Time spent with her beloved 10 children, and the generations that followed were savored. The abundance of grandchildren didn’t stop Helen from forming a bond with each and every one of them, making special memories and a connection that only she would share with each one of them. From sitting under the big shade tree with the truest love of her life, Wyman, to big family gatherings, always centered around a hearty meal, Helen was home wherever her family was. Her love for the Lord and her family defined her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wyman; parents, Bill and Martha; grandchildren, Coby Motsenbocker, Kadence Sanders, and Kylie Smith; sister, Betty Newman; sons-in-law, Johnny Barnett and CE Williams; and nephew, Travis McKeand.

Helen’s devotion to her family will live on in her 10 children, Nancy Shapiro (La Crosse, WI), Pat Williams (Canadian, TX), Susie Adamson and husband, Alvin (Blair), Mickey Weldon and wife, Mel (Elk City), Louetta Shenefield and husband, Dutch (Altus), Lane Weldon and wife, Laurie (Quannah, TX), Ted Weldon and wife, Kim (Granbury, TX), Twyman Weldon and wife, Terri (Houston, TX), Chryl Walton and husband, Jeff (Wichita Falls, TX), and Chad Weldon and wife, Chasity (Duncan); 27 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; numerous great great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Matherson (California); several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of extended family and friends.
