James Raymond "Jim" McLeod

James Raymond “Jim” McLeod, 79, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away November 21, 2023 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A private family burial will take place at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

 

Jim was born on April 18, 1944, in California to John and Owayne (Tabb) McLeod. Jim was a graduate from Southside High School. In 1964, Jim married Helen Lois Speratos in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From this union three daughters were born, Kimberly, Tamra, and Kathleen. In 1966, Jim and Helen moved to Santa Ana in Orange County, California and they were there for 15 years where Jim worked as a cement mason and foreman until he retired. The family moved to Altus in 1981, where Jim worked as a farmer. Jim was of the Christian faith and attended Thrive Church in Altus. In his spare time Jim enjoyed spending time with family, playing dominoes, and building model cars, helicopters, and ships. He especially enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour western novels.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen McLeod. He is survived by his three daughters, Kimberly Bonewitz and husband, Mike, Tamra O’Neal and husband, Keith, Kathleen Haskin and husband, Grant; six grandchildren, Michael Bonewitz and wife, Laura, Michelle Bonewitz, Madison O’Neal, Miles O’Neal, Hannah Manhire and husband, William, and Gage Haskin; five great children, Maybalee Bonewitz, Maximilian Manhire, and Cameron, Gracie, and Cooper Emerson.
