Obituary

To his children he was Daddy, to his grandkids he was Papa, and to old friends he was Beau James. No matter who he was to you, to know Jerry Lee Hamersley was to love him. A devoted husband, loving father, and compassionate friend, Jerry left this earth on April 30, 2026, surrounded by the family he cherished so deeply.

He was born on November 19, 1942, to Walter Lee and Gladys (Goss) Hamersley in Eldorado, Oklahoma. After attending Eldorado High School, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army before returning home following his faithful years of service.

On March 5, 1981, Jerry married his true love, Wanda Gail Arter. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, resilience, and countless memories shared among their large and growing family of 11 children.

Jerry spent most of his life working as a truck driver and custom harvester, earning a reputation as one of the hardest-working men anyone could know. Even as the years passed, he continued driving a truck until his health no longer allowed it. Yet beyond his work ethic, Jerry’s greatest joy was always his family. Whether he was beating everyone at dominos, taking all their money playing Wahoo, gardening, fishing, checking cattle, or heading out on a road trip, Jerry was happiest simply being surrounded by those he loved.

He was the kind of man who never met a stranger. Jerry freely opened his home, his heart, and his life to others, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Caring for people came naturally to him and became one of the defining marks of his life. He had a story for every occasion, a joke ready at every moment, and a playful spirit that never faded. Even in his final days, Jerry continued making memories, filling difficult moments with laughter and love for the people closest to him.

Jerry was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Walter and Gladys; his sisters, Bea Hans, Emma Jean Harmon, and Camilla Jackson; and his lifelong best friends, Don Hale and Jackie Hamilton.

Those left to carry forward Jerry’s legacy include his beloved wife of 45 years, Wanda; his children, Jerry Hamersley (Ginann), Michael Hamersley (Sunshine), Stacy Randolph, Toby Randolph, Krystal Clark, BJ Randolph, Cody Randolph, JD Hamersley (Caly), Gayla Hamersley, and Jackie Hamersley (Michelle Richardson); 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; adopted children, Misti Dunlap and Duane Birmingham; his cherished Eldorado community; and countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering love.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Kincannon Funeral Home-Altus. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, May 4th, at the Eldorado Church of Christ with Pastor Will Archer officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Eldorado Cemetery.
